I agree with the point about driving Leon's better, I certainly drive mine a lot less erratic than my escort, you just sit in the drivers seat and feel the need to be kind to it until its got some warmth in it

I also feel the need to be kind until the engine has some warmth
It's strange.

I personally dont think the Leon will become a "chav" car as its seen by many as a fast big family car. Most still go for the trusty saxos and corsas but i've noticed that the Civic type R (ek9/ep3) is a total performance bargin at the min and a lot of lads my way have cottoned onto this and there are LOADS about now. They can be modded pretty cheaply as well and are pretty quick.

i really considered getting a civic type R, in fact i was at a point where it was a choice of Cupra R or Civic Type R...every tom **** and harry has/wants a civic type r here in glasgow, and they are so common that you become a shade in the background. whereas in a cupra,iv recieved loads of attention just driving down the same streets.not many people have even seen a cupra R before let alone consider it as a rival for a ctr

TBH mate I have the best of both worlds lol, the wifes just bought an EP3 type r and I gotta admit I love driving it. Totally different machine to the lcr the only thing that lets it down is the bad lack of torque. I miss that kind of go-kart handling and rawness.

hi mate i know what you mean i have see a few young lads around were i live driving 1.6 leons with stupid leds and neons every were it does put the seat name to shame. same with vw golfs they use to be nice class cars until every tom dic and harry bought 1.
lets just hope they dont corrupt the cupra r loll :ban:

I live a couple of miles away from Derby and have a 1.6 so I hope you aren't talking about me :p

It's bog standard bar the colour coded bumper strips tho.

too many doors for a chav car. If you care so much about not being seen in a car that the likes of them would drive then sell it. Im happy driving my SEAT and love every minute of it for now. However cheap prices of an S4 are convincing me otherwise.

Insurance is still a killer on these cars and dont forget tax is going to £310 this year so im sure the shatso will be the wee-a-pon of choice. That and people will call anyone who does somthing to there car a "boy racer" no matter what

saxo vts's made post 2001 will be same tax band as lcr's so becoming less attractive.

be loads of old ones and vtrs appearing tho, they have near me anyway, soon as i sold my vtr as it happens.

definatly not a chav car near me, at least higher speced models anyway,

you d get a few 1.6s with a big exhaust and nothing else tho

my car does get looked at by people from time to time, local football team player was eying it up the other week as i went round to a mates and the car park is also their training ground

as i am 25 and mine is a fr tdi the insurance is not that bad for me thankfully

I think someone else hit the nail on the head earlier, saying they`ve got to many doors so they dont quite fall into the 3 door hot hatch bracket.Ive only seen about 3 or 4 round this way (the black country) so its nice when i see another.I still think "*** that looks nice" when i see one driving towards me,sad i know!!

Now there are 7 in my area and 3 of them are owned by close mates of mine lol they bought theres about a month after getting shot of mine

So much for feeling exclusive eh lol

Dont see many LCR round near me, i think they are still a fairly rare car to see.High insurance cost will put alot of young drivers off anyway even if the values of the car have fallen.I think you will always get the co*ks driving through town fast no matter what car they are in.

I personaly never see the Leon becoming a chav car. It's just not what the Saxo is a cheap car to run, a cheap car to insure, and a cheap car to repair. Even if they could afford a cupra why would they modify it? The body kit is nice enough as it is, not to subtle not to flash.

I couldnt care less anyway, unless they are super rich I only see them affordin 1.6 base models and I'm more than happy to leave them behind in a cloud of 150 Diesel smoke. (Thats the only time I find myself a bit of boy racer lol)

I started off in a 1.2 Nova merit 12 years ago and i took the badges off the back so i guess at the time that would have made me a boy racer and im sure people thought so? 12 years on and i take the badges off my leon and put a big old exhaust on it. Joe blogs dousnt care if it goes all the way to the manifold and the benefits from various mods, my collegues for example just think im a boy racer. Who cares.
