Just to set the record straight boys and girls, the E36 M3 (3.0) was 286 bhp and the E36 M3 Evo (3.2) was 321 bhp (although as it has been said, most didn't make this figure).

The Evo is the quicker of the 2 although there is not much in it due to the 3.0 being a 5-speed as opposed to the Evo's 6-speed (less gear changes). Its when the speed presses on that the Evo starts to find its legs.... upto a ton many things will stay within reach but after that its a different story.

Hey it was milton keynes ;) you've only got 1/4 of a mile between roundabouts. It wasn't a new shape one either. I'm not daft - there's no way i'd beat one of those in a straight line run.

Oh and btw it's around 200bhp and around 300lb/ft of torque.

I've just had a poke on parkers, car i chased was a T reg which makes it a 328i ragtop and not an M3 - it definitely had an M3 badge on the back though. Surely not a bmw driver pretending to be something they're not ;)

Can a remapped 'Sooty' beat a 328i convertible, the answer to that is yes. Can i get near a pukka M3 - definitely not :)

I'm not sure what this says about me... but I like the VXR. It does look a little too much like a Ripspeed demo car, but it still works for me.

Couldn't disagree with you boys more to be honest.. ;)
That's why when my LCR goes back in the next year, it'll will be my next car.. By far the best looking Hot Hatch out at the min, IMO.. Yeah I love the LCR's looks.. But it's getting dated now (like any other car that's been out 4 years) and the new Cupra (as nice as it looks) just doesn't do it for me at the min.. Looks to much like the FR IMO and at £19,500 before options it's going to have it's work cut out me thinks..

They do look quite smart but I don t think it will be too long before they become the favourite chariot of the chav.

Its always quite funny to hear how bias some people on hear are, talking about having blinkers on..........!

Chariot of the Chav at £16500, i don't think so mate. Try the old cupras. I have just sold my Mk3 Ibiza Cupra to an 18 year old guy, who will probably rape it until the wheels come off. I still like the Cupra don't get me wrong but i have just purchased a 06 Astra VXR and i have to say that it is everything my Cupra wasn't. The sheer excelleration, the looks and the handling. I had to pick it up in Southampton and after a 430mile trip i still couldn't fault the car.

You all say how you can take the VXR, but you all have heavily modified cars, if i spent the same amout on my VXR it would be me saying good bye. With a Exhaust and simple remap i would be getting 280bhp+......

You cannot say this is an ugly car!!

You should try the car out before you make judgement

And in a years time it will be worth how much ? For what its worth, I think they look quite nice and they are quite rare (I've only seen a couple on the road, but have seen loads of Focus STs) - but when the depreciation kicks in they are going to attract the wrong sort of buyers.
