Thats a tasty collection of parts there, awesome mate now sell that K04 and get a Big turbo on it....

Cheers mate, want to get the SEM powder coated in Anthracite along with the rocker cover and charge pipe, will be looking [B)] when its all done!

As for BT, well I thought long and hard about it all. The way I see it is if you want to do something you should do it properly.

If I went BT and did it right then we are moving into stroker kits, rebores, custom DP's etc etc. The cost is just too much for me to stretch.

Essentially my car will be a daily driver, I need it for work and I will be traveling a lot this year, so I think hybrid is the best option for me.

But saying that I want to squeeze every last possible hp out of that hybrid :D

Nice one on the SEM, got to find myself one on the cheap at some point too.
After all the work and parts going in this build you really need to go BT

Cheers mate, it was off RobDon, got the walbro off him too, along with his catch can and Fluidampr pulley.

If i had the money think i would have taken a lot more off him too :D

Guess it all comes down to that, a proper BT build, like what you are doing, will cost a few dollars more than i want to stretch to, so i am settling with the little hybrid, for now

On another note, gave my car a clean today, noticed the front dics are really worn, the pads however are fine

Car make a groaning noise whenever i brake, so some new discs and pads are needed i think.

A good time to get my brakes overhauled. I bought some absolutely awful looking LCR brembos off eBay last year for relatively little money.

They are in desperate need of a reburb, so going to get them done and shove them on my car, might get the rears done too.

Watch this space!!

Time for yet another update, and another pile of parts added:

Fluidampr pulley - Essential if running a SMF like I will be doing:

Catch can with 19mm inlets/outlets, also loads of pipework with this too:
IMAG0428.jpg

That's all my stuff from RobDon, he did well out of me!

As mentioned in my previous post my brakes are not in the best of conditions. Have sent off a spare set of rear calipers and some donor Brembos I got last year to be refurbished by someone who was advertising VW brakes on eBay. Here is what the Brembos looked like:

IMAG0426.jpg

Pretty awful you would agree!

The guy who i sent them to got back to me and said they aren't too bad, surprisingly. Although a piston was missing from one of the calipers

Am getting them refurbished in Graphite Grey, and then sticking on some black Brembo decals, think they are going to look very [B)] once done.

Should arrive at some point in the next week.

In the meantime I have been busy ordering a few bits and pieces, like:

IMAG0439.jpg

DS2500's. Was thinking about the DS3000's but i'm going to be for fast road use the 2500's are more than good enough. Just got some OE Pagid pads for the rear, picked up from Euro Car Parts.

Now the discs, have ordered these:

Godspeed Front Discs
http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~godspeed/product.php?id_product=81

Godspeed Rear Discs
http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~godspeed/product.php?id_product=158

Not sure the rear disc pic is right on the website. And also ordered some HEL hoses:

So plan is to get all this fitted next weekend. Not a moment too soon, the passenger rear caliper is sticking on, causing an awful noise. Need to fix that tomorrow before i am back to work on Monday

Another update, but this time I am not just posting more picture of parts I bought, I actually did some work on my car :D

On the weekend I had to tackle a couple of jobs.

First of all my passenger rear caliper was stcking, badly. For the whole week I was going to work with the disc rubbing against the pad, making an awful racket.

Once I took the caliper off, I saw the one of the sliders was seized, forcing the inner brake pad to rub against the disc, so much so that it went though the pad surface and had worn away most of the backing of the pad too :ban:

Pretty scary really, I knew something was up but couldn't do anything about it as I had to work, and when I get home its too late and dark to fix it.

Had to remove the slider with a hammer and chisel, cleaned and greased it up and its all fine now.

The second job was to change my fuel pump. The sender was playing up giving incorrect fuel level readings, had a spare pump lying around so did a swap over.

Pretty simple job. Only thing was, I had already swapped the pump over last year out of another Cupra R I had in. Thing was when I compared it with the pump from the latest Cupra R I broke, the part numbers were different

Checked the part number online and it appears I have been running my LCR for nearly a year on the wrong pump, suitable only for a 150bhp 1.8T :censored:

Once again, slightly scary stuff. My car is not mapped so guess the wrong pump wasn't under too much stress???

Anyway, so far the car feels maybe a bit better performance wise, hard to tell. One thing for sure is the economy is much better on the new pump, by at least 3-4mpg each journey.

Dread to think how much petrol (and money) I have wasted over the last year

Ok, enough rambling. Got on the phone to my brake refurb guy and the calipers are done and ready to be sent out, he sent me this pic just now:

IMG-20120125-00099.jpg

Not the best picture in the world, but still I think they look awesome! Some black Brembo decals will set off the calipers perfectly. He was going to do that for me, but I need them back for the weekend so will do it myself.

Brakes will be fitted this weekend all going well, can't wait :funk:

Loving the progress. Keeping my eye on this build for sure!

Cheers mate. Just chatting to my brother now, my plan is to get car ready by the spring, all the problems ironed out by the summer.

And then off to do somme track days at Spa and the Nurburgring next year :funk:

Some more pictures of yet more parts (i ask myself when will it end?!)

First and foremost, my shiny goodspeed discs:

IMAG0443.jpg

Then my calipers came back today. Remember they looked like this:

IMAG0426.jpg

One week later:

IMAG0448.jpg

Fitted with all new pipes, braided hoses (from Godspeed) and random brackets:

IMAG0444.jpg

And finally, my Brembo decals. Went with black, want them to look as stealthy as possible:

IMAG0449.jpg

IMAG0451.jpg

A top job done by the refurb guy, also did my rears too. Didn't take pics of those as they are boring compared to the Brembos!

He can get your calipers finished in practically any colour you want. The powder coater uses the RAL colour chart (google it, 100's of colour choices).

Anywhoo, unlike my other parts these won't be sittng in a box in my garage, fitting them tomorrow. So excited, how sad am i :D

Long overdue post, it took me a week longer than planned, but my brakes are all fitted :D:D:D:D

Its been a real pain...

To cut a long story short, when i fitted the passenger rear caliper last week i managed to ruin the threads on the caliper so it was leaking fluid [:@]

Then to make matters worse, the drivers front caliper was leaking out of one of the nipples, as soon as i put it on :censored:

So was a bit annoyed to say the least!

Got the two faulty calipers off the car and sent back to my brake man. He heli-coiled the brembo and ran a tap thru the rear caliper, didn't charge me a penny so :)

Got them back and finally installed yesterday. But yet again it the Brembo was leaking from the nipple :censored::censored:

I took the nipple out and compared it to the original one i had on my old caliper. Turns out the ones my brake refurber used are a bit narrower, so are more liable to leak fluid.

Put the old nipple back on and no leak :D

Anyway enough talk of nipples, here are some piccys:

IMAG0460.jpg

IMAG0461.jpg

I have had to scrape off the brembo decals as they got ruined with all the leaking fluid, so need to order so more and do them again.

As well as fitting the brakes i also changed a handbrake cable (pain in the a55 to fit the new on it) and also fitted the cat-back section of my Blueflame exhaust that has been sitting in my garage for near enough 6 months!

By the time i got home it was a bit snowy:

IMAG0466.jpg

IMAG0467.jpg

Exhaust lines up fairly well, I'm missing one bracket and rubber hanger so getting that on order from Sere, along with some new nipples.

Doesn't sound too loud compared to standard, maybe a little bit more boomy, but won't know full effect until the DP & Decat are on too

Really should be ordering my hybrid from CR this week, as i want the whole thing done in the next few months, but cash is running out, so may need to delay things
