Why don't you have the best of both then? Like you said you can get a Gti 8/16v cheap enough, A 20VT engine will cost you around £1400/1500 on here...

just a thought mate, if you did do all these conversions have you done a quote with insurance companies? as i had a quote putting a 1.8 20vt in mine and my insurance was either £3k+ or no one would insure me

and i am 22 mate with 1 years NCB!

and dave i hate when people write 16v when they are 8v, worse still, seen someone put a 1.8 16v as 2.0 16v

the kiwi one is 100 quid less to insure.

why ?

when i had my 1.8 16v and sold it i went to change my insurance over when i brought my 2.0 16v my company wouldnt insure it unless it had a cat 1 alarm they said it was more desirable to nic i was well peed i had to go with another insurer now that was messed up
what is the difference ?

my one did that, but the standard alarm is enough, so i emailed [email protected]
explained i needed proof to show my insurance company it had a factory alarm/immobiliser, they sent a letter (to Ms. Suj :censored::ban:) stating the things, i sent this to insurance company, they shut up lol
