Hi All,

Got a new white candy Cupra a week ago, keen to feel her in action but only after 1000km :(

Have a q. , In my previous car (Leon FR 2005), I had dashboard illumination turned on permanently, no need to switch on the lights or something ... Any chance to setup the same in Cupra (via VAG) ?

thanx !

I dont think so no, what is the reason, and how did you do it in the mk1?

dash lights up in the mk1 from an ignition supply but most people complained they were forgetting to turn their lights on

you could theoretically change the wire from switch to ignition fed but why not just turn sidelights on ?

must just add though your vag-com leon2 guide is superb dan - nice one

Yep, in my lovely FR the dash lights were turning up right after a first switch click, and I did not have to turn sidelights from the lights switch for that. On the other hand it wasn't possible to shut it down however.

I really need this feature since I have an underground parking place, with a very low illumination there, so when I enter the car I hardly see CDs (B/W LCD) info, Gasoline (black background) gauge, AC etc ..

VAG-COM Leon2 guide - where from can I get the one ?

thanx !

I wouldn't recommend having the dash lights on all the time. A number of manufacturers have tried this over the years, but then reverted back to just when the lights are on.

The problem being you end up blowing the bulbs quicker and they are expensive to replace in terms of labour. I had this problem on a car in the past.

Ah! You should have got the Convenience Pack - Auto Lights would have done exactly what you want... But what is so hard with switching your sidelights on when you get in?

My 350z had the dash lights on all the time and had no light to inform you if the lights were on. I hated it. I adjusted the dash illumination as dim as you could, then when the lights came on the dash went dark... Only way you could tell at dusk if your lights were on!

I do have a "coming / leaving home" system, but it activates all lights including x-head lights which start to move convulsively adjusting themselves for god knows what and then when its done, I'm leaving the parking ... its useless to turn on entire light system in car when the only thing that I want is to check a radio and fuel.
As I mentioned above, I had dash lights illumination in my previous SEAT FR and I was so happy with that feature, no dead bulbs by the way.

thanx
