Oh yes we found this months ago. There is a network of sniffers that find these files before they go up on the websites. Like a library, the books come in but wait about in the back of library before they get issued. In this case with a web link to the file server. It's the file servers that get examined and posted up.
The
resource is here which sits off the side of the long running discussion thread:
This
resource is applicable to all Seat navigation systems plus other Vag brands which are MIB2 / 2.5. It is built from the knowledge base on the Leon forum from a long running thread which has the advantage of tracking the twists and turns over...
www.seatcupra.net
I index into the latest map links on the discussion thread. Currently we have the unreleased June 2024 mib2 high release which I've been using for months now, but has shifted to its VW release form, but not wrapped in a web page yet.
The mib2 standard one we are talking about is the late November 2023 release. It waits to be seen whether they will release anything in June. Probably not. Nothing sniffed out so far. They will probably knock it back to a November release.
For those with mib3 and out of connect services contract I have posted those links up on the Leon 4 side. Nothing sniffed out on the June release for that although Skoda have republished a very old file as new. Ignoring that. Generally if you look at Skoda and Seat sites they are lagging behind VW and those in the know are ahead of VW with files off the file server. Russian sites contain Audi files. They spill on too mibsolution.one site.
So on the discussion board on the related link quite a few people have now updated their mib1 infotainment units too the 2023 maps which isn't bad considering that doing these updates for mib1 was problematic in the past. With the card based systems it's
imperative to take a copy of the map file before deleting it. You need that for the mib2 workaround covered in the
resource and to take info off for mib1. The number of times people loose that is remarkable. Backup. In the
resource a recover procedure is covered for mib2 standard. Mib1 you are looking to get a copy off someone else as a life saver. The old method for mib1.
Mapcare on mib2 was abandoned in the final year of its life 2019 which is why some people manage to do these updates by buying a card or just doing the download
without the overall.nds workaround. Mib2 high you alter the navigation FeCs to long life by a tool box and 1447AIO firmware. East Yorkshire Retrofit will do it for you if you don't want to do DIY. Quite a few people have updated their very old mib2 highs to 1447AIO. They will also do your mib1 maps. Mib2 standard as well by altering the navigation FeCs on that although the workaround is easy enough.
For those missing TMC and want it, see the
resource linked above and out to the links. Mib2 high it's available with minor recoding to put it on Inrix, works on all map releases. Mib2 standard you need to use 3 year old maps and modified modules. No
coding on those units. TMC has its uses. Inrix seems better than the old Trafficmaster provider.
