ive got a similar thing with my car, 2nd to 3rd when changing quick results in a lovely grind.
And also with the push down reverse, sometimes doesnt come out smoothly, kind of a knack for doing it, any1 else has to wiggle the stick to losen it. lol.
Any1 else have this? i thought it was kinda a standard thing with these cars, chocolate gear boxes an all.

I had a 2->3 crunch at quick shifts, but only above 4000 rpm! Changed to redline mt90 last friday and my problem is gone.

Try it out, its much cheaper

3rd is really notchy in my TDi, and sometimes very hesitant to go in...
how much of this Redline stuff is required? is it just the one £15-£20 bottle?

any help would be much appreciated :D

You need 3 bottles of it as it comes in US quart's, 2 quarts are 1.9 litres, the gearbox holds 2 litres :(

Hi, This is my first post!, Just got my standard LCR(210) black yesterday 03plate done 69k , i have the same problem as some of you guys the car grinds 1st to 2nd gear at high revs badly, it seems i can only get in second if im goin under 25mph but not had a proper playbout yet, So i think im gonna get some of that redline mt90 oil, I thought it was defo a new gearbox but at least i have one bit of hope.
Cheers liam

mines just started to play up - only when engine on if I park the car all gears select with ease when moving feels as if clutch is not fully depressed when it is.

Also its not alll the time but seems to be more frequent - If I dont use the clutch and shift up or down matching the revs changes are fine.

Hi , I have crunching in most gears recently , but when my car is cold the gears are perfectly smooth , but after driving for say 20 mins and the engine warms , they then become a pain in the arse and grind.

any ideas?

Just a quick thought.. gears should typically get easier to engage as the gearbox warms up and the gear oil up to temperature. If you find the opposite, perhaps there's trouble with the clutch? Either a slipping pressure plate or clutch slave cylinder losing pressure?

hmm not sure does not feel right tho , clutch bites at correct point . stalls when it should , tried starting in 3rd and 4th and stalls - good sign . if i go to garage and say i got a problem with gears or clutch they just gonna hand me a big bill and for no reason . want to try some test's first see myself before i ask a dealer . any ideas ?
