flip key info thread

Man i have this problem, one remote seems to knock the other one out of sync, i have tried erasing all the keys with the manual method pressing unlock five times etc.. no luck it doesnt seem to work at all.
also surely erasing the key from the memory wont affect the imob code on it???

That's what I did.
I erased all the keys, then coded them back in. But I didn't do it manually, I did it via VCDS/VAG-com. But I'm guessing it would work manually also.

Erasing the keys did not erase them from the immobiliser.

Hope that works for you

You will need a blade cut.
You will need a new transponder, and code it (or take your old one out).
And you will need the remote circuit board, behind the buttons which that link doesn't include.

IMO, you should buy a key with the remote circuit board in.
You can order a new key blade cut off eBay for about £10.
Then I'd try getting your old transponder chip out.

for some reason when i tried to erase the keys with the pressing the unlock button five times thingy it didnt do anything at all, and when i looked in the owners manual for how to sync a key it had a completely different method for doing it, which didnt work lol anyone recommend a decent (doesnt cost the freaking earth) vcds/vagcom for sale? ebay hong kong jobbys not worth it it assume?

Yeah, there are 2 (possibly more?) syncing methods.

As for the VAG com cable, my one was an £8 one off eBay, and it worked.
But to save a lot of hassle, use a laptop with XP

Eg:http://bit.ly/zMU5uC
All you have to do us download VCDS lite 1.1 from the Internet.
Plug in the cable
Manually locate the drivers on the disc when asked
And make sure it's on a com port between 1 & 4

Can anyone tell me what a VDO cluster means?
Or what I need to get the SKC?
VDO is just the manufacturer... Siemens VDO.

To get the SKC you could try downloading VAG-Tacho to read the SKC from the immobiliser. But a legal copy of VAG-Tacho is expensive and you may as well just find an auto-locksmith with key coding capabilities.

Oh, right. Thanks.
How do I found out whether mine is VDO or not?
Even if I downloaded VAG tacho, I would still need the cable though, eg. eBay cable?

Oh really? Thanks.
I didn't know that!

How can I erase keys that I don't have?

Currently, I have 3 keys. 2 are remote keys....I was planning on erasing the keys, then coding these 2 keys. But I didn't know they would be removed from the Immobiliser memory also...Are you sure about this? Thanks

Apologies for the late reply (and I see that you have figured this out anyway). Here's the message I received when asking about remote programming/key coding:

Hi Mark

Yes coding procedure is exactly the same. system will save the remote on next free space,
there is space for 4 remotes. each car was sold with either 0, 1 or 2 remote keys.
so you should have at least 2 spaces free unless someone in the past coded 3rd remote. then 1st new one will be saved as 4th and 2nd new will erase remote on last position.
if this will be the case then all remotes has to be erased and coded again.
but you will have to get keys coded to immo by specialist anyway so if (unlikely) you will have situation described above specialist will erase all remotes. its usually free of charge.

Hope it makes sense

Robert

I may have slightly misinterpreted what was written and hence why I wrote you will need to get them coded to the immobilliser again. At least you have clarified that you don't have to so that's good to know.

Lambro did you have to buy a licence for vcds when you used that cable? mine wont let me do anything interesting without registering vcds-vagcom, and its asking $99 for it :S bit steep me thinks

hi guys

I know loads of people must have asked this but there are 92 pages now and dont fancy reading through them all! Is there a good link where it shows you how to convert to a flip key? I have bought myself a blank 2 button flip key with no remote transponder in it and I have both my standard seat keys. Any help will be much appreciated.

Take transponder out of spare, place in flip, sync to car, get flip blade cut. Sorted. It really is that simple. To sync flip to car you need original key in ignition, with car fired up, get out of car, manually lock car with spare key, press unlock button on flip key, wait 6 seconds, press unlock again, done! There should be a beep in there somewhere when pressing the flip key buttons. Take flip blade to be cut at independent auto locksmith as Timpsons and the like probably won't touch it as they can't guarantee the work, should cost about a tenner.

Hey, when I bought my car it only came with the 1 key, I've tried getting in contact with the original owner but no luck.
Is there another way around coding the new flip key without the chip from my spare key?

Hope that makes sense

You need a blank transponder with your flip key then. Most auto locksmiths can code this for you, not sure on price though. Or you can take it to a SEAT dealer and they'll do it, for around £40-£50 i think???
