You need to have a key with an original transponder chip (little glass cylinder) in the ignition, and turned on.
It shouldn't matter is the new key you are trying to code to the central locking has a transponder chip or not, that's only used for actually starting the car.
You have to (iirc):
1. Turn on ignition with original key, and leave it in.
2. Lock the door manually (i.e. put key in lock and turn it) (Might also be a good idea to have the drivers window open!!)
3. Press unlock on the new key(horn should blip, but mine didn't. Wait about 5 seconds and then press unlock again. The doors should unlock.
4. That's it!!
All you need to do then is get the key cut somewhere, swap the transponder chip over from your old key and you're sorted.
