£10 at timpsons to get it cut the parts department at my local stealer quoted me £60 just for the top bit of the key with the blade and transponder, that was without coding it. Think if you order that it comes already cut for you car

I just levered mine up gently using a very small micro screwdriver. Some come off easily some are really hard depending on the amount of glue that has been used.

I paid £5 to get my key cut at the local Timpsons... he told me it was touch and go if he broke the key or not and that wouldn't be his problem if he did.

Was worth it though, cut and works fine. :)

Tried again just to remove the badge, it seems tio be made of metal, tried it with a knife, and a small screwdriver, and all it seems to be doing is scraping the badge away, it just doesnt want to come off, any other ideas ?

It is metal.

Get to one of the edges and dig in with a precision flathead screwdriver, it comes off that way.

Local VW Dealers (Stourbridge, Dudley)have just told me they cant cut a seat key, it has to be a seat dealers ?

And Wolverhampton VW has told me to try a key shop, says thats where they send all theirs.

I went to an old guy, proper old school locksmith place :)

He did say thats where the VW dealers go to get their keys cut, and it was only 20 minutes drive away.

I can confirm, the one i posted (and someone else posted a picture of) earlier, works perfectly.

I can also confirm, nail polish remover, in the cut i did yesterday, hurts like hell :(

Last question hopefully, as my experience with vw dealers hasnt been great today, can (will) they order me a S badge for the key ?

Thanks for the help guys.

So annoyed, went back to get my key fixed, and he ended up cutting right through it and snapping the middle bit off. He told me to go away and buy two or three new blades and he'll cut them for free until he gets one that works - what a generous fellow.

So, I'm stuck with a broken key that has so far cost me £120 and heaps of hassle.

How I managed to refrain from throwing it into the bin I'll never know. Really, really regret going for this flip key thing now, to be honest I regret buying the car but that's another matter.

Any recommendations on where to buy some new blades please guys?

I've felt the same on so many occasions mate its unreal.

I have been to hell and back with my Mk4 Ibiza like I've never been with any of my other cars - most of it is my own doing though.

You can get the blades on eBay. :)

Look for a trader called Auto-dude on ebay. 2 keys for £3.75 delivered. Very good quality and you get the roll pins too. I got these and they both cut with no problems. I have compaired them with the factory blades and they are very good copies.

Many thanks for the replies guys - not really sure what the best thing to do is, the guy said "order two or three" - but firstly no idea why I should have to do that, and secondly... what if he screws up again.

My latest train of thought is to simply give up on the flip key idea and get a regular one cut from the dealership, I'd of lost £120 in the process (plus £90 for this other key) but at least I'd have peace of mind then.

Cheers for the link.

I'm still having troubles with this though, just ordering the blades now (auto-dude doesn't seem to do then any more) - so total costs have jumped even more:

Original key ~£35
Immobiliser chip £60
New badge(s) £10
Key cut £30
Two new blades £16

Argh! Over £151 then. And a f*ck load of hassle. Honestly I could so easily throw this piece of crap in the bin :/

Cheers frency, just messaging him now so hopefully I can come to some sort of deal :) Don't mind paying that for the blades, but it's just the 10 badges that I really don't need
