daft question (HIDs)

If you can mount your ballast elsewhere without removing the bumper then alls good, but I wanted my install to be neat and the ballasts not to be seen hence they are fitted under the headlights out of sight. I just drilled into chassis leg used self tapping screws, as i wouldn't trust those sticky pads to last long at all.

All depends on how professional and oem you want your install to look.

just had cops followme. he came out of a junction as i was approaching traffic lights and as soon as he saw me, he pulled a u-turn. was a few cars between us, so turned into a service station and gave it enough time for him to pass. I'm sure he was following me cos of the lights! (I get paranoid when cops are about), anyway, carried on with journey, and there's these red lights flashin up ahead, he'd only gone and pulled a lad on a moped :D

no. proper hate cops! whilst i was off i got followed twice in 2 days! once in sheff, and once near home!

is it possible that when I was followed in sheff the copper may have "tagged" my car so i get pulled the very next time they see me? I ask because at the time (i realised this the next day) I had a number plate out, the cops put the blues on, i entered a private car park, then he turned his blues off and pulled an illegal u turn

Think I may look into getting HIDs for Full Beam! When they're on, they obviously look a little yellow than the others. I know drivers wont be able to see that as I wont have my full beams on when following other, or they're coming towards me, but I used em last night, and they didn't make much difference lol (my HIDs must be that good on dipped alone).

Anyway, it started to annoy me seeing blue/white light, then a bit of yellow up ahead lol. Plus, just imagine the difference they'll make to the Full Beam!

I read somewhere a while ago that some1 mentioned their HIDs caused interferance with the radio!

I noticed this the other night, parked in underground (so no signal anyway), but static was worse than normal, turned HIDs off and it calmed down a bit, back on and it went crazy static again.

I then noticed the next morning whilst listenin to Chris Moyles (only time i have radio on), that the signal seemed worse! never, in 3 and a half years, have i had to change/scan for radio 1 since i preset it! but i now find i need to do this from time to time!

How on earth can some wires and bulbs affect the radio? when i read the original comment i thought "nah, it aint possible, just good coincidence" but it does seem that HIDs interfere with your radio reception!

if you fit the ballast out the way it can help reduce the static

most of em are shielded properly nowadays and dont usually affect much

its the arcing from the ballast unit that causes it

another question now:

after a few weeks of having the HIDs (which I'm loving), i'm now thinking of converting the full beam. As I mentioned in an earlier post, when I use them, you go from pure white light, to a nasty kind of yellow

Anyway, the question is, will flashing people cause problems for the HIDs? Think T. Spark mentioned summat about the possibility of blowing th ebulbs if you constantly turn the HIDs on and off! Also, as it takes a split second to warm the bulb, is there a possibility other wont see my flash?

not a good idea... the spark up on hids means they take a few seconds to warm up, so if your flashing some one at a junction, they wont see becuase to them your mains beams have not come on.

that's what i was thinking

I'd just get uprated bulbs if i were you.

best place to get these? How much? Last time I bought uprated bulbs (for dipped beam), I could hardly tell the difference

what would you recommend and where from? Was in Halfrauds today, and "Ultra Billiant (50% brighter) were £22.99 each! and some "Ultra White Xenon (30% brighter) were about £16 pound each!

Could get a HID kit for about £40

anyone tried different bulbs on full beam other than HIDs? If so, what would you recommend? Pics would also be great
 
Full beam on HID is a difficult one. Because like you said, it takes a while to warm the bulb up, so possibly people wont see the flash when your headlights are on.

The likes of BMW use a good bit of kit. The full beam comes on with the mainbeam but it has a shield in front, flash your headlight and the shield moves. This way the bulb is always warmed up and not been turned on and off.

sounds good, but sounds a pain in arse to try and adapt to ibiza!

was thinking, if i convert full beam to HIDs, instead of flashin, i could just switch main beam to side lights to acknowledge people ;)
