I'd love to know what they fit to the Golfs to make them not do this, that they apparently leave off the Cupras.

Seems backwards going to the trouble and expense of fitting the VAQ to then have it struggle for grip again through this hop.

I must admit this also crossed my mind when watching the clubsport on topgear earlier this week.

So after a week with the Powerflex track insert, I can say it works better. If I leave the traction control on in the wet, the wheel hop is mostly gone, tyres still patter about sometimes but it no longer feels like the tyres are lifting from the tarmac and causing havoc. NVH is slightly up at tickover and in reverse, but this is a family estate so I'm pretty picky and it's not overly disturbing. No worse than a diesel cold start... (the vibration, not the noise ;) )

Just a random thought , bit has anyone with access to VAG parts database checked if there are different types of this mounting?

So. I installed one of these 034 metal ones today myself, first thing I noticed...there was absolutely NO WAY this slotted in smoothly, at all. The only way i could get it in was to put the bolt in and torque it in up to 130nm like it says to. Apparently some say that it's an easy slide in/out? Certainly wasn't for me in my Leon 1.8 Manual Petrol.

There is quite a significant amount of idle NVH too which i was suprised at as i was under the impression there would be very little from the reviews all around, but it's almost too much, and low RPM as well it sounds like the car is bogging down when it's not.

Drivability, it's nice hearing the engine more, it's nice hearing more of a transmission whine too but the idle vibrations and low RPM rumbles make me think it's a littler too harsh. Maybe 130nm is too much? But at first inspection it almost felt like it wouldn't fit, and yes, it is installed the correct way round lol.

So far not sure, the idling vibration makes it's sound like i've got a noisy aftermarket exhaust, everything else about the driving is better, but the vibration seems too much so far which is odd...will have to fiddle around some more maybe with it, perhaps loosen it a bit maybe.

EDIT*

Got the wrong one...ffs idiot! Disregard the above, won't remove the about to keep continuity! Version 2 is what you need 100% for the 2016 mk3s, not the version 1!

I reckon you have fitted the wrong one. Hence the excess vibration.

Have you got some photos? Doesnt sound right at all!

There's two variations. You've probably bought the wrong one.

Yeah...thanks, I certainly did! :banghead2

I mean like...ffs. In my defense though, 1) i checked under the car first 2) i looked at the pictures 3) i checked a youtube install vids etc.

Was absolutely convinced it was version 1 I needed due to the angle in which the pictures were taken. Worse still, when it arrived, it only barely didn't quite fit, it just needed like a bit of shove and whack and it popped right in...which seemed suspect at first, however, it eventually torqued in, but yeah holy **** what an idiot I am however as i said in my defense, for some reason, the 034 picture guide threw me right off.

For some reason, the version 2 pic without the bolt, doesn't 100% look like my mount from the same angle PLUS it's pretty average quality picture anyway, it's only until i angled my self sideways and compared it with the pictures again that i finally saw my error...so yeah...woops. Thankfully, only done about 5 or 6 miles in it before i've now removed it. What a pig it was to get out, was worried i wouldn't be able to at first argh :headhurt:

So yeah! Forget all that i wrote lol because clearly I F# that up, will come back when i have the right one installed haha

Lol cheers. I am just thankful i realised early :D. Well, got the correct 1 coming tomorrow now so hopefully will arrive before work so I can test it fully to and from :). Besides that...got a big cross country 200 miles trip coming up Wednesday so that'll be a perfect test of A road driving, motorways and even the odd B routes so that should be a perfect test.

Tuesday so hopefully in the morning, it arrives for me.

Let u know what you think after a week or so. My 034 review was quite similar to your first wrong part one only a bit less exaggerated but disliked it for the same reasons, and yes, I had the correct one...

(I already reviewed which one I prefer)

Well well well...even after just over a day, the correct part (version 2 for my 16 FR Manual) is absolutely fantastic! Idle NVH? Nope. Low speed NVH? Nope, hard throttle NVH? Negilible at best. Better/meaner sounding engine? CHECK! Sharper shifts? Not sure yet, need more time but there feels like there is less "rock" between gears or maybe i'm just so used to shifting now...dunno. Smoother driving? Again hard to say after a full day, but it likes to change down and up with heel toe more so, maybe. Reduced Wheelhop in Wet? Hasn't sodding rained in about 5 days so no idea haha, however, absolutely slamming it in 1st carelessly in the dry doesn't do ****, the wheels (thus far, thanks to my dunlop Sportmaxx RT2) just grip, and it pulls like mad, sometimes the traction control goes a little "oh shi-" but for every single dive and every single launch thus far it just digs, or spins, rather than hops. Will need to test in rain as this is the main appeal.

However from a full day of it, 100% recommended, more noise from the engine, more (good) vibrations under hard load, better snap, less slop and no difference what so ever in NVH at idle, reverse, low speeds or normal driving it's a must have. You'll only get more noticable vibration in low gear low speed full throttle situations which makes you sometimes think oh am i bogging it down but your not, and 9/10 times why are you driving this anyway? Lol. The absolute best thing about it thus far is that it's "noise on demand". If you want the mean, growling grunt up the rpms, plant your foot for the noise. If you just wanna cruise, sounds exactly the same with no annoyance.

This, coupled with a future Powervalve boost actuated exhaust system, it will really be the best of both subtle, normal cruising and loud mode hard throttle fun :).

Which version is needed for a 2014 Cupra 280? Cheers
Safest is to check your car. One way to do it is to slide your phone under on a piece of cardboard with video and flash on and take a screenshot of the mount when you find it :)
