Did you do this on Ben's car then?

I'll give Revo a ring in the morning to find out about this update. I'm fairly sure Kev said it wasn't an update as such, just something they did to try and help Ben out.

Our Revo dealer Mega 4 said there was an updated less aggresive code.

Just did (I forgot). Simon was actually there aparrently, so Kev double checked with him whilst I was one the phone.

Apparently you're running the same code as everyone else, there is no update. He did hint that Mega4 had loaded the earlier version of the code, that you seemed to prefer so you wanted to stick with it - I could well have that bit wrapped around my neck.

This earlier version was what we always called version 1, the version that was developed on Cupramax's car about 3-3.5 years ago. This version was the one that caused a stutter/hesitation at 2,700-3,000 on a few cars. Revo looked into it (can't remember who's car they used, Warren's perhaps?) and released updated the code.

i knew i had the same code as everyone else just didnt know if i had the earlier version or the the later one, if i remeber rightly kev or simon told me that the code i have on my car is better suited for hot summers, but now that you mention that stutter i get that on my car but a bit further down the rev range at about 1800rpm.

I had a code put on my car back in May of 2005 and i was really happy with that code no probems what so ever, the logs were good the car was running excellent. The probems started when i went to power engineering for a rolling road day whilst on the motorway my car went into limp mode about 3 times on the way down.

Once on the rollers pulled 241bhp and 249lbs, started journey home car went into limp mode 2 more times, did some logging and my requested boost vs actual boost had a 0.2 bar difference in it. The thing that made me think i had a problem with the code was the requesting of 1.5 bar at redline.

After a chat with Simon and Kev we looked at my logs and ruled out MAF and lambda, Kev told me to look for split hoses i couldnt see any. So they suggested i try a different version of the code dont know what one it is but i guess its the one you call version 1.

The car still had a difference in requested vs actual and i was at the end of my teather, it just so happened it was my 40,000mile service and autotecnik in totton happend to find a inch long split in the hose that goes from the charge pipe to the top of the diverter valve or as they called it the boost pick up pipe.

Fixed that and since then my cars actual is meeting requested. Revo really helped out and am grateful for that considering i was trying to blame their code not in a bad way but i couldnt find an explanation for it so i put it down to the code.

With boost 6 timing 6 my car at the moment requests 1.2 bar and its not until i turn the boost up to 9 does my car request 1.55bar and before i had the different version of the code put on my car my car requested 1.5 bar on b6.

Now I'm confused, 'cos Martin said:

Anyway, enough of that.

Ben - If you had the Version 1 put on before the dealer found the split pipe, I would make sure you're running Version 2.

I've had that pipe split, and quite few others have. In fact I think it was at the CGTi RR day when mine was refered to as the one "that sounds like a kettle" that was down to that pipe. It doesn't actually go to the top of the DV though, it goes to the N75. Edit: There's two pipes coming off the charge pipe, a fat one and a thin one - thin one to the N75, fat one to the DV

I'm still not clear if after you fitted this "new" MAF did you disconnect the battery (or perform a VAG-COM reset  )?

Thread's gone Waaay off topic now - perhaps we can dig up one of your old threads or start a new one about your car?

how do you reset the ECU with vag com?!

would save me a lot of hassel me thinks!

Hi mate, go into Vagcom, then Engine, Basic settings, type in 060 then hit go, wait for the counter to go to 8 then the reset is done. What sort of power does your CR run?

WOW and cheers!!!

lol @ the amount of times i have disconnected my battery when i have had vag com all this time!

my power... well not too sure, got 270bhp and 352lbs at jabba (yes LBS!) but my car is a little bit quicker since back in feb, now holds boost better and runs a couple more psi (i had a split F pipe!)

but you know wat dynos are like...

but i did get 13.8 @ pod against a stupidly strong head wind!

Same sort of power as our Leon then, would be good to see if my Quaife diff gives me any better times down the 1/4.

have you had an uprated clutch put on that not being funny martin but he has 42lbs of torque more than you so even with the diff beating that time will be impressive

Different Maf/ECU reset

Ok did a big log today (not that sort of log) anyway my highest g/s was the following

4560 rpm - 141.25g/s
5560 rpm - 185.44g/s
6560rpm - 116.58gs
4880rpm - 175.17g/s
5400rpm - 180.03g/s
5920rpm - 189.08g/s
6360rpm - 181.56g/s
6280rpm - 0g/s

That was a 2nd and 3rd gear run, i had no timing pull back what so ever, my car was requesting 1.1bar of boost and got 1.1 bar of boost it peaked at 1.4bar.

I tried a 4th gear run but didnt get to redline, however i got to 5520rpm where i saw 179.19g/s but at the following rpm i had this timing pull back, all on boost 6 timing 6 and using v-power.

1560rpm - 0,0,0,6
1720rpm - 0,0,0,6
1960rpm - 0,0,0,5.3
2240rpm - 0,0,0,5.3
2560rpm - 0,0,0,4.5
2920rpm - 0,0,0,3.8
3280rpm - 0,0,0,3.8
3640rpm - 0,0,0,3
4040rpm - 0,0,0,3
4400rpm - 0,0,0,2.3
and then fallng untill i reached 5520rpm where i had 0,0,0,0.8

in 4th it was requesting 1.3bar and getting 1.3bar it peaked at 1.45bar, so that to me means my car is still running lean to produce timing pull back like that on t6 and v-power

Ben that 8 may be just a glitch, you know when you've got serious timing pull when all cylinders start showing figs of 5 and above (if its fueling related the same mix will be seen by all cylinders). Some cylinders are worse than others. One off figures wouldn't really worry me.

S'Fine Ben - have you read the Revo logging/SPS3 guide? Have you got an SPS3?

I'd turn the Timing up if I were you.

1.4 bar requested is low though - what revs was this at,what revs was the 1.1bar at (Redline?)

You need to log 115, 118, 020, 003 and post them in a new ;) thread.

If you're bothered about lean running, you need to log 031 (I think) and have a look at that link I poted to the ross tech site...

I think i see a few 5's on the timing (usually cylinder4), and i was told that anything over 6's was bad, so i havent advanced my timing any further than 7 (new sps settings, not old) - I really must do more logging and see if i can push it any further past t7b7.
