If ur pick up pipe wa blocked u would of starved your turbo from oil by now there for the turbo main bearing woul of had a lack of oil which the turbo desperately requires and I would of said it would most Likly of given up if the pipe was blocked.
In my opinion I would say the return and fee pipes are most Likly ok.

I'd be cheaking the turbo my self remove the intercom let pipe and look at the fins for damge an play plus cheak if there's any oil about.
You always get a bit of oil so don't worry about abit

Rob 73 just got to say are u defo sure it's. Blue smoking because I have just fixed my car and I could of swore it was blue smoke I was seeing.
I had a blown off boost pipe was causing it to smoke when I wa sat in traffic and pulled off slowly then would stop.

It caused it to white smoke with a hint of black due to the car was putting the right amount of fuel into to engine but not enough air so of cause it was the wrong mixture causing it to smoke.

By boost pipe what do you mean? the tip? I am seeing same symptoms so want to check this . cheers, luke.

Yea u have a series of boost pipes they go from the turbo to the intercooler at the front of the car and return bk out of the intercooler, if u look down the front of the engine bay u will c a pipe going into the intercooler which is behind the radiator and one going out at the other side . Check these as they are prone to popping off due to the crappy clips that hold them if not check the pipe off the turbo . To be honest if u was losing pressure out of any of these pipes u would get a woooshin noise as the turbo spools up which is air leaking out . If u still dnt kno where these pipes are i will try take some pics later

Yeah mate, let's us know how you get on.

Would be interesting to hear what they find re: the smoke issue.

Update on my smoke issue... well kinda weird after checking the majority of the hoses last night, I did see oil at the top of the intercooler (outside) around the sensor. Which has an additional rubber washer due to the hole being bigger than the sensor plug.

This has worked for over 6months, although maybe is giving me dodgy air / fuel readings.

Anyway no smoke today at the usual places... Will see if it returns tomorrow.

Then when I get a chance at the weekend I will take off the intercooler and see what the oil situation is like.

Any thoughts??

My LCR has been doing the exact same thing..

I fitted a catchcan..with wrong inlet/outlet...they got blocked causing it to smoke.
So i removed it..it was fine after that...moral=check your breathers are ok.

Now i have the same problems BUT mine is more white than blue...but its deffo burning oil,as i can smell it.
Started smoking,at idle,not on boost..
Took it to legoland the other week, gave it a bit of stick, got home no smoke.

Now somedays its worse than others, mines done 100k on the std turbo, and i think im correct in saying its the seal on the exhaust side of the turbo burning off the oil.
Its not your valve stems,it would smoke first thing after being parked up,as its been said, also its been said..you sure its BLUE?
Mine does it SOMETIMES when ticking over from cold..but not straight away...takes a couple of mins..and does it when warm at traffic lights..#
:(

How many miles has the turbo/motor done?
I wouldnt worry about it until it gets bad, obviously depending how bad it is at the mo.

The cars done almost 90k... Regular serviced etc.

It did smoke a bit after the drive home tonight when sitting at the lights.

Not as bad as before.

So if it's seals in the turbo, is it a turbo off replace with hybrid route..?

I know it's tight behind the engine but how difficult is it to replace the turbo.?

Parts only route rather than paying for labour..

Parts only route rather than paying for labour..I was going to rebuild mine myself..google DIY turbo rebuild..

Quick update on the blue smoke issue...

No smoke for the last 3 or 4 days, sitting at lights after a good run and nothing.

I have probably jinxed it by saying this..lol

Any thoughts... ??

My 180 used to blow the odd puff now and again I used to notice it more when you started to reverse it... Diagnosed as valve stem oil seals..... It never got worse and kept it a few years sold it and still going strong

Thanks for the reply gys recently had boost test on my l.c and all is ok but basicly im ocasionaly geting the odd puff of blue smoke from the exhaust and i have even seen it come from the back off the block with the bonnet up and it smells of oil its more on start up. But on a bad day i can let the car idle an blip the accelarator and get smoke also i have reverse a couple times an i c a cloud of smoke go past the window before but problems there one miniute gone the next had it in garadge and they said it could be valve stem oil seals.but when they took turbo pipe off vacuum side of turbo there was an oil leak. the car doesnt smoke on overun just wonderin if there is anythin that can definitivly pinpiont to the problem

My LCR does this after its been on boost, its my oil line to turbo thats leaking and dropping onto the Downpipe so getting smoke coming up from behind head, got a new seal waiting to be fit it was pence

Mine is still doing it. Ain't used the car for a week went and started it earlier no smoke on start up leave it idling then after about 5 mins it starts smoking. If you rev it to about 2000 rpm it don't smoke. Go for a run no smoke pull up after a run and after a couple of mins starts again.
