As I said earlier, based on my experience and from others advice... cast manifold to cast ex housing wouldn't require a gasket. Where as the stainless manifold generally would use one.

Sorry guys, just wanted too make sure everything was ok before saying its running.

But i have done 110 miles so far and all is very very well.

I had a very minor leak from oil cooler union which is sorted.

Car is very very quiet, its a bit strange really, but turbo's act as a silencer, even though it only has a rear silencer.

I have started pushing it a little while monitoring air/fuel which seems to be sitting low 12's when under boost, but i have yet to see what the timing is doing.

I accidently hit 1.9 BAR last night and got some 5th gear wheel spin, but it was a bit wet.

The rear section of the exhaust needs to be adjusted a little as iam get a rattle every so often over large bumps.

The turbo is producing 1 Bar boost at 3000 - 3200 rpm which i was very suprised about, and i dont get the typical woosh noise from the DV, but a nice WRC chatter.

I will get some pics up soon although there aren't many from the rebuild as i just got my head down to get it done.

When the engine is cold iam getting a slight top end rattle which i think is piston slap, due to the fancy bits inside, but soon goes as soon as the engine has some temperature.

So far iam a very happy man. Iam planning on doing the gearbox weekend after next then off for some CC 3.

wow nice build so far :) 1.9 bar of boost though.... will your internals be ok with that kinda pressure???
also about the WRC chatter, isnt that a bad thing as the chatter is air flowing backwards towards the tubro and stopping it from spinning. stupid me if im wrong though

The dv may not be able to vent that volume of air in time possibly? I know my friends cossie with a dv still gets 'chatter' just after the dv vents - big turbos do shift a large volume of air, sounds like you have a real beast on your hands too, 5th gear wheelspin

Yeah i wont be letting it go 1.9 BAR again lol. All internals are uprated so shoul handle BIG power.

I have no idea watch pressure it will be running? Any ideas for around the 400 BHP mark.

DV is working but sound very different, my mate BT corsa sounds very similar.

piston slap dont sound healthy, did you get them made for your bore or just buy em? dump valve chatter is caused by air stacking up when you close the throttle and isnt good m8, you will need air injectors/correctors or better dump valve setup, its the air pressure backing up along the boost pipes when you close the throttle, this will stall the turbo and cause lag and eventully baering issues, we snapped the actuator rod on the van 'chattering' get it mapped it will probs stop then or decent boost controll setup.

forged piston cold start noise is normal.... until warmed up etc.
greater expansion clearance req'd on bore on forged pistons.

how would you apply air injectors/correctors to remedy the compressor stall?
curious to understand

its about better boost control all in all,ecu can vary wastegate opening, we used to have this problem,(not on this engine thou) mapping in of air injectors to wastegate sorted problem , we dont run dump valve either, air correcter can hold wastgate open slightly on the off throttle times stopping stacking effect, its much more acurate way of controlling boost
