i reckon it would be impossible for an ibiza to get 12s...no matter how much power u run!

Now thats a silly statement, set the car up properly and itll hit a high 12 on gas

define set the car up properly.... if u cant get the traction u wont go nowhere...

watch top gear this week by any chance? a great example of loads of power and no traction!

using road legal tyres, FWD and a lump of instant power I cant see it...and its not just my opinion, results show this...its about as good as the fella who said he'd get into 14s on a standard map...pure BULLSHIT...slips speak louder than banter in this game

Caney only gets 12s in his quattro TT with a BT and gas

tyres are key.
BF Goodridge stickies... Micky Thompson's etc, low pressures and lower than normal times are possible. If thats your bag.

Thats one of the main reasons Jabba James does so well with his MK2 IHI'd golf.. done some great times on R888's too with low pressures. <12sec runs

Setting the car up properly can mean loads of things....

Wide as feck front tyres on high powered fwd 1/4 mile cars and skinny rears works

ive posted this vid before but might aswell show it again (yes i know its a honda but look at the tyres its running and its fwd with quite a large turbo lol)

If anyone wants the full version send me a PM with your email address and ill try send it to you

Suspension setup is also massivley important for fwd drags, an example... the ih nova took out a second by altering the suspension.

LOL you make me laugh

If your going to set it up 'properly' and want good times then maybe you have to sacrifice the road legal part

I wouldn't say it was crap though

sorry i dont see the point of a RWYB event if youre just a wannnabe racing driver. i like the idea of driving to the show as casually as can be, and then tearing the **** out of it up the strip. thats the main point of it after all

ok it werent crap but it just reissues my point that if it didnt have those tyres, it would have lost alot of time

where the fella who started this amazing thread rolled up to the start line and ran a respectable time only to get the **** ripped out of him by a few ppl (not just jonzy) who aint even been to the strips...my spec should run mid 14s but i couldnt at inters

with an intercooler i should be able to or just with abit more experience
so i reckon he should be able to get his time down to near 13.0 with just abit more practise

but 12s... i dont think so really...never know though...id be interested to see how it goes against the GT28RS

Its ok i see what you mean but the tyres are part of the good set up on that car so its clear it wouldnt be as quick without them.

I'd love to take my car up the strip but would be  if i broke summit and couldnt get it home.

If i was serious about times id have to have a seperate track car

I know jabba james achieved some very respectable times as pointed out by Bill and i saw he'd driven that car to work, whether he still does i dont know.

I like mk3 Cupras alot, my dads got a slightly modded one pushing 249bhp and 262lb/ft.

Bill is right to a certain extent, but track prep is probably more important. Most tracks only prep properly for drag events. RWYB is just some top up money to pay the bills.

I ran at the pod recently, the day after a top fuel drag day, and early in the morning, while the start was still glued, I pulled a 13.4 at 108 into a 30mph headwind, in a 1300kg MKIV, as I drive it on the road, so some weight reduction. I've tried all kinds of tyres over the years, but track prep makes more difference.

The next most important factor is driver. I'm sure that on a fully prepped track, I could do a high 12, and a good driver would do a solid mid 12. The average guy would do a 14 in mine.

Inters was proof enough, I ran a 13.7 two mates ran a 14.7 and a 15.2 in mine.
