Changing Mk3 Leon Climate control from manual to automatic

Ok so, managed to do it and from my testing it works!

Still need to test it more but it does direct air where it’s supposed to go. (Floor vents, front vents and windscreen vents), the temp control works great and fan speed is bang on.

However, of course dual zone does not work and that would be an absolute nightmare to get to work as I need to rip the dash apart.

Now I don’t know what coding is required but from what I’ve tested so far everything seems to working as it should, so if anyone has any suggestions on this it would be appreciated!

It’s pretty much plug and play all I had to do was purchase was the climatronic harness which I got from Ali express. (£12)

Plug that into the stock harness and the other end into the new climate control part.

Now from what I’ve researched you are able to get auto to work, all you need is a two temp sensors and install the pins from that into the same harness. Will update once I get onto that.

I’ve attached some pictures of the old vs new one. 🙂

Ignore the heated seats, they obviously don’t work as I don’t have them installed, light turns off after a couple seconds
I’ve bought the same control panel to fit to my leon, everything works ok but air is only going to windscreen vents and no where else, the footwell and front vent buttons light up just don’t direct any air. Is this due to the adapter cable you mentioned ?

Hi,

Well there are two ways you could go about this, try to firstly recalibrate the climate control flaps that direct air.

To do this turn on the ignition, press and hold both the AC and Front Vent buttons until both lights start to flash then you'll hear the flaps calibrating and the lights will stop flashing after 10-20 seconds.

If after that air is still not being directed to the selected place then yes, you will have to by the adapter, but I recommend to try and calibrate the flaps first as it is the easiest and cheapest option.

Hope that helps :)
