So, made a little bit of progress, played about with wiring a little but mostly did the R&D for the TT front suspension upgrade.

Of course I bought the wrong bushes for the job 🙄 (listing error on the manufacturer website and me not asking questions) so guess I'll be selling them at some point to fund the right ones.

Anyone fancy offset rear bushes for their cast arms? 🤣

I seriously wish you all the best, I tried this a yr back and it did not go well from the spray adhesive not wanting to stick well, to the fabric not working on the curves very well. If it was a flat surface be great an easy. I sacked it off and ended up buying a set of leather door cards as even a mate who did upholstery said it would be a pain of a job. But good look hope it turns out spot on

It sounds like the curves are going to be the hardest part - although when I pulled off the old fabric, there wasn't a lot of stretch in that either, so if I go for a stretchier fabric, it might be easier to get right.

I'll be starting with just the one door to see if it's possible to do a good job. I don't mind not having the card on, given I don't often have passengers in the back, and once I get the panel out, which I gather is just drilling out the plastic rivets, I've got a bit more flexibility in terms of not having to work around the whole door.

Like you say, if all else fails, there's always cards on eBay...

Yeah its a case of carefully drilling the plastic rivets out as you said, clean up the card the best you can as you would no doubt see any imperfections once done, I agree on the fabric as the stuff I used had little play in it so made it hard work it's not a fun job but if you get it right it will be mint, otherwise get on Facebook market place as I've seen 2 sets of leather card sets on their at right cash

I just ordered some foam-backed stretchy faux suede. Having looked it up, it seems Alcantara would probably have been fine in terms of getting it to mould to the curves, but while I do love my car, I don't love it enough to spend about £80 a metre on it. Nothing dramatic - just black like before. The dark colour should hide any ineptitude on my part trying to get it smooth.

Damn those YouTube videos for making it look so easy.

@Dazzalcr - how did you drill out the rivets? I'm thinking a drill bit a little bigger than the rivet itself so it takes out all of the surrounding plastic?

I filled up my car the other day. It cost about £40 for something ridiculous like 15l. I'm not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, but I'm really glad I fixed that boost leak, given I'm getting an extra 10mpg as a result.

Took the car to Badger5 today for a remap.
Had a few issues that needed resolving (BP Fuel, my fault). Proram air filter and airflow meter. Sports cat being a little restrictive at 5k rpm and up. Not a problem as i dont ever rev it that high. But will look at replacing it later in the year anyway.
Loads of power now. Feels like a different car :)

More research done for Phase 3 of my suspension work.

One is the N/S driveshaft from an 03/04 Seat Leon Cupra TDI, the other is N/S driveshaft from a 2015 Seat Leon Cupra.

I know what you're (possibly) thinking "Yeah but that won't bolt up to an 02M gearbox"

........... yeah, this is looking easier and easier

@iammooks what I did mate was trim the out side of the plastic rivets so I still had length and could push them back into the card slots and then re plastic weld them back in rather than drill them out completely. Hope that makes sense

Perfect sense, yes. Thanks!

I'm going to try the same with a knife and then once I know the fabric is stuck to the card properly, I'll most likely use Araldite to glue it back in. If it works, it's going to look awesome. There's a lot riding on the 'if it works' part though. I can't imagine it looking much worse though...
