All that over a bloody clip thing is they seem pretty strong ,they must have a crap scanner if it can’t read vw , I’ve got an old Launch Creader V+ Only does the basics but tells you what the code problem is and that works great it’s also payed for its self, Quantum is allot cheaper now from when I was looking at oil, but that Mobil 1 is very good it’s just been not changed for ages, imagine if you put a cheaper vw spec oil in

They must have been really trying hard.

At the time I called round loads of local garages - including supposed VAG specialists - and none of them could read my car. In the end after calling the local SEAT dealership and they quoted around £110 to scan it, I bought a Gendan K-Line cable, downloaded VCDS Lite and bought a cheap Windows laptop (Mac user here) and scanned it that way - cheaper to buy cable and laptop than it was to pay SEAT to scan it once. Mad.

I've taken those horseshoe clips off boost pipes more times than I can remember and I've never snapped one - stick a flat blade screwdriver in at the top (or bottom, depending on which side of the engine you're working on) and then run it down the side and it'll come out with no fuss. They must have been really trying hard.

I was going that VCDS route but that c reader does enough it also was handy on mothers old micra and used it on next doors yarvis also some garages charge £50 too clear the light of dash and fault codes ,thing is I’d start enabling everything and messing ect lol

Fixed my bracket for the rear anti roll bar it got ripped off going through many flooded roads around me from the storms over the weekend it took some getting back on to the car

My rear ARB bracket has shifted a bit as well - the bracket now isn't square with the bush, so I'd better get out at some point and get it straightened out.

Now I've got my stutter fixed, I'm going to start ironing out other issues. I've still got a random knock coming from my offside rear quarter and given I've stripped out the wheel arch and that didn't change anything, replaced more or less all of the suspension components other than springs there, and there's nothing loose in the boot that would make that sound, I'm wondering if I should take the door card off and just see if there's anything in there that's loose or knocking, but then I've also heard it can be because of a spring on its way out... At least it'll keep me busy a while.

Thinking about installing a catch can to prevent build-up in the intake pipes and EGR too, if I can do this cheaply...

There's not a lot of choice out there - looks like it's either an eBay special or the Mann & Hummel one, and I can only really find that at Darkside and it's a bit pricey. I only started looking today though, so I'll take a bit more time researching.

I thought I'd found the source of the knock at Christmas when I found my fuel tank scuttle was hanging on by a thread, but since I re-attached it, the noise has come back. I'll have a look at the lower spring plate to make sure everything is where it should be - it can be pretty random when it happens - sometimes when I pull away, sometimes when I'm just stopping... It could be so many things though, but given I've changed rear shocks, put in the rear ARB, new bump stops etc. it's less likely to be to do with those. I've even read it could be the mount for the rear seat bench... I've got a few hours over the weekend though.

Almost had an accident with a saw as I was trimming down rear LCA bush to fit. Hand slipped and went the wrong side of the guard. Fortunately gloves and luck to the rescue!

Working on cars is risky stuff 🙄😅

Holy crap, you can tell I haven't looked at the listing properly, yeah, it’s not the cheap option

When one part costs about 10% of the car's worth and doesn't necessarily bring any performance gains, I'm going to be thinking long and hard about that one.

Have had a ADD W1 catch can fitted for ages, good quality if a wee bit small but I’ve never had it more than a quarter full, even after a few months

I love seeing people's engine bays these days - I've tried to keep mine as stock as possible but that doesn't stop me seeing things and wondering what they've changed and why. Even things like different expansion tank caps...

noticed back box hanger had broke and rotted when washing car must of just happened, back box looks fine though, taking to garage tomorrow to get it mig welded but i have some 12mm bar they can use if they not got any as i don't think there's enough on the hanger, glad i noticed than when i did

I had mine welded in the same place about ten years ago and it's held up fine. I got under the back end today to look for where my knocking sound was coming from and while the weld is still fine, there's a lot of left and right movement on the bush/rubber bit. Does yours move that much? I'd say it moves around an inch.

Put my replacement horseshoe clip on my intercooler pipe. The jubilee clip held absolutely fine but it's nice to have an OEM fix rather than bodging it. I put the jubilee clip back on though, just for a bit of security.

Was going to make sure my top mounts were done up proper, but couldn't find a 9mm allen key. I have no idea how I did it last time - there must be one floating around somewhere...

Giving the car a clean tomorrow - might be the first time in a year. That car deserves better than me...

Must be common thing it’s a 12mm bar no way that could go though that fast since last mot , they did not use the bar I supplied just welded it the hanger near the back pipes on the lip of the backbox , I had a look last night there was about 2” gone of it as I had a go at removing some box was fine though as I wanted to know that was ok it was bugging me lol, hardly any movement though feels tight but gives when needed but I’m sure it was like that before when I cleaned the Crome last,
when I dropped it off one of the tyres was really low thought I had a bloody puncture but was just tyre pressure, could of tried welding it myself as I’ve got a stick welder but I’ve not welded for years so I did not want to make a **** up of it and mig is better though for exhausts.

Discovered yesterday that you can no longer buy Brembo brake pads from SEAT. They’re discontinued. WTF!?!!
Probably they lost the contract like castrol did, think I got brembos from europarts also got ferodo premier pads for front there like a fast road pad, after getting brake fade coming off the motorway on the standards I wanted a bit better pad as I’d just mapped the car as well.. brake fade = not good lol

I’m running the cheapo brembo pads from euros. I’m convinced they’re a bit crap especially as they’re so cheap. I’ll take a look at ferodo. I assume premier pads are a bit less aggressive than ds2500??

yea the premier are the ones next down from them was going to get them DS2500 but was overkill, been a while since i got them they may of rebrand them id check the main site also you don't get much brake dust which is a bonus, i just run standard Pagid pads on rear

I've just stuck a set of the budget Brembo pads on my VW Touran...they're OK but certainly not good enough for the Leon with almost 4 times the power
Coincidentally I've just received another set for the Leon but these are the Brembo Sport HP2000 pads and at triple the price I'm expecting something a little better.
