Formentor System Errors

Low remote control battery may effect entry if the remote is cold. Kessy is heavy on remote battery use. You can always stick a new quality battery in and test e.g. Duracell. You don't really know the state of the Kessy batteries that are used when first manufactured e.g.. old stock / problematic manufacturers etc.

Not sure whether the Formentor warns you of a low remote battery or not on the front screen. Early Ateca's don't, may now. Arona's do pop up a message warning. It gets posted in the VCDS error code messages in both cases. If I see one of them in the error codes I change the battery in both remotes. Works out at 12 - 18 months. If you can read error codes with a dongle, vcds, Obdeleven etc, have a scan down, look for low battery in remote control.

Just float that up as something to check if it's more prevalent in cold weather. Where you keep the key if do button less entry door or boot, has a bearing. If in a bag or case, needs to be on the outside so the aerials in the car can read it, screened by contents of a bag or body, can be problematic. Had that, done that.

We may come up with a lot of justifications why keyless is not working every time: low remote battery, cold outside, etc. But the fact is: it should work. It works faultlessly in other cars from VAG/non-VAG for years. We're not doing beta testing here and trying to find root cause of some faults.

Spanish board's think they are with the Leon 4 😉. Why that 455 hp Chinese car has it's attractions 🤣... as a second if it's ever launched outside Germany. My Chinese American fridge is superb.

Cold outside I reckon has been ruled out now since they get it hot and cold.

It is a bit sad that they never got the German engineering sorted out on the Vag MQB Evo platform before launch in 2020. Related platform also affected.

I’ve heard of other industries that fire stuff out and wait for the fireworks from punters. Seems they want the buying public to test, fault find, report a solution and then the manufacturers get their heads around a fix.
Maybe I dreamed it though ;)

Just in time manufacturing, sounds a bit like just in time turning the customer base off. These youngster programmers 😂. Well I reckon it's a case of managers don't understanding the product design. If you have ever programmed you might remember that you thought the programme was going to run without bugs... it never did. Now they shunt them out with the bugs. I only did scientific programming for the job in hand, modelling, not commercial programming. The design spiel you read is the commercial programming spiel one.

I'm getting warnings about my right side front fog light

My service manager thinks it could be something with the wiring. I'll be scheduling the service next week
I've had exactly the same thing, only made aware of it when my nominated service agent advised me by email!
The 'fault' cleared itself shortly afterwards but it does demonstrate the amount of data the vehicle reports back to Cupra Central!

So car is booked in to the dealer for a new front facing camera 17th Jan.
Now the dealer said (when it was in before Christmas) that the issues I was having with the infotainment (front assist, random display changes etc) was to do with the camera. Once it’s been fitted I’ll report back accordingly, hopefully it does the job.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope on that one. Mind you they might do other coding work so it appears as if fixed with the lane assist camera whilst it's down to other coding and software updates worked in at the time.

This is where you'd do a full OBDEleven scan with back up before and after and compare the software release in each module and the long string... more like the software release is the issues. I still think myself the car getting confused by whether it's driving on the left or right is down to the digital map data if it always happens at the same place as reported. The SOS bangs seem to be reception issues. (I only read other peoples issues).

Had my car in dealers last week and apparently the SOS error has been fixed.
I remain dubious but haven’t driven car enough to confirm either way.
All other errors (the usual) are still awaiting a fix, no timescale available.
Interestingly, the problems with carving a phone (iPhone 12 pro and previously iPhone 10) are down to Apple apparently, nowt to do with VW not being able to get their latest system to work with the most popular phone in the world even though it works just fine in a 3 year old Ateca.
I’m flabbergasted and slightly pi55ed off. Again.

Does the Ateca have a smaller / grippier charging pad? I think the issue is to do with alignment or coils between the charger and phone. It’s difficult to produce a one-size-fits-all solution.

Yep I've had my v2 formentor since April last year and have just had oil warning light, checked and appears to be oil in the car. Also had various other electrical issues with airbag warning and general infotainment issues with a purple and black screen, no fix seems available as it happens Intermittently. Booked in for end of the month to try and get a fix sorted. Anyone else had similar issues that can suggest I let the dealer know?

Got my car in December last year, and has generally been faultless, although one thing that has been bugging me is the Android Auto keeps disconnecting at random times throughout the journey. It seems to do this regardless if its plugged in / wireless. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 which is less than 2 years old. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix ? I like using waze for the traffic info and it's really the main reason I use Android Auto, so for the car to disconnect randomly during a journey is just a pain in the ass. It does this pretty much every time I drive it.

I have a Pixel 5 and it links well and it's quite a robust connection both wired and wireless.

The only thing I can suggest is deleting the phone completely and then reconnecting.

I hoped I wouldn't be joining the club of pissed off Formentor drivers but after 10 days I have.

Been waiting on a call from customer car for 4 days, keep getting told they'll phone by close of business but then I get an email saying sorry we'll phone you tomorrow and the cycle repeats.

Got sod all faith in this car.
