The gear box on the pd150 is heavy but it come down easily but no so easy to go back up even worse when the clutch is not lined up correctly as the box won’t go back in and dam it gets even heavier

Got slightly spooked by a Audi A3 off the line at the lights at the start of the motorway sliproad as he nosed ahead - the realisation that "****, I didn't expect him to be really trying here and I've only got 100 yards before the lanes merge!"
Third gear and 6000rpm sorted him though. Was probably a 2.0 diesel - it looked pretty anonymous.

Don’t all Audi’s look pretty anonymous? 😂

Went for an overtake today and had a sudden loss of power!!
For a second I thought an intercooler pipe had blown off.
Then remembered I have summer semi’s on and it was the traction control kicking in as I spun up the tyres.

Badger5 Custom Map + TIP,
3”Custom exhaust, FMIC, Bosh 550’s, BC Coilovers, ARB’s +loads more.

The day I do anything to my turbo other than spray Mr Muscle into it is the time I start a thread a day later called 'blown turbo - what do I do?'

They're crush washers for the sump plug. I've got a magnetic one so just need to change the washer every time I change the oil. As always, it's cheaper to buy ten years' worth than just the one.

02M gearboxes are friggin heavy and hateful things to manoeuvre on the ground let alone above your head and in a tiny space.
Believe me I've moved enough of the b@stard things!
Unless you've got full ramp access & transmission support I'd pay someone else to fit the clutch as its an absolute pig to do on the ground.

agreed. had my gearbox off twice in the last 6 months with nothing but a big jack, not fun.

Weight aside its the fact that the offside output flange catches on the sandwich plate even after rotating the box it just makes the whole ordeal a ballache.
Obviously this can be removed but that also requires the oil to be drained first.

All this talk of gearboxes has had me looking at transmission jacks today as I'm super quiet at work.

I'm not convinced I've found anything to warrant my hard earned pennies yet...

Let's just say that if you do, I'll very gladly pay to rent it off you for a week or two.

I found to undo the passenger side bolts of the subframe and rack and you can literally pivot the whole subframe out the way. otherwise i just had a nightmare with the flange hitting a inch portion of it. makes it easier offering it up. then its just the wiggle game lol.

I've decided I will buy one as I have 2 gearboxes that need dropping with minimal fuss and removal instead of the usual brutal attack on breakers with the front end off and hoisting the entire engine and gearbox out in one lump.
The gearbox on my own Leon still needs swapping and the clutch and flywheel on my Touran is on borrowed time.

I'm struggling to find anything that looks particularly good at cradling an 02M gearbox and will fit beneath a vehicle on axle stands though.
I like the concept of the generic scissor type ones but that top plate looks sh!t which brings me to the conclusion I may have to fabricate one to suit.
