Thai-wronghorse do you have left and right motor mounts in good nick to fit an AUQ? I don’t know if they’re all the same . I’m down your neck of the woods next Saturday.

What have I done to my car today?
Nearly caused a massive pile up joining the A38.
The poor guy in the Mini who missed me, has my thanks he was more on the ball than I.
Feeling a lot less complacent.
The idiots on the road also include me.
Sounds like a moment of madness on your part.
We all have em.
No harm done eh?

Well, if something wasn't going to snap or sheer already, you probably just jinxed it with that post.

I like to live dangerously, also I already know my battery securing bolt is seized. One step ahead of the game

Might as well grab another battery tray whilst you're here then

One of those days doing jobs that needed to be done, but of course I wasn't happy doing just what needed to be done...

My girlfriend had been using the car for tip runs while her kitchen was being done and so the boot and footwells were full of plaster board dust and sawdust.

Vacuumed it all up and actually got the boot cleaner than it's looked in years. Those bits and pieces really do get caught up in the pile.

Then I cleaned the interior before using the Meguiars protectant, which made a massive difference. I've always been a matt finish kind of person and this one has a bit of a sheen, but the interior just looks so much less tired now. I love how it turned my seat belt buttons from pink to red again.

I know washing the outside adds at least 20bhp, but does cleaning the inside bring any performance advantages, or is that just to impress the ladies?

Oh, and I took the filler cap assembly out to see if it was the cause of the knock I've been getting.

The breather tube wasn't blocked with crap, but the sides were caked and the tube itself was really hard - from age I'm guessing. Hopefully if it is the cause, moving it around a bit might at least affect the sound.

I did have a respray on that panel a few years ago so maybe it hadn't been put back together again properly.

Finally got to take the car on a test run with the new race seat installed. Fully expected it to be painful as roads round here are not the smoothest and my suspension is firm.

It was actually surprisingly comfortable, no need for cushions and dear god it does what it's meant to. Really have more confidence going through corners now.

Just wish it was a little easier to get in and out

Got my number plates and holders on.
Bit of an obvious gap mind.

Try using meguires ultimate Company onit with a machine polisher it will cut back the misting and look fresh again. Takes about 10mins.

What’s the prognosis? I’ve noticed a 5p sized piece starting to peel too

Yes mate. It may make the peeling bit bigger tho I’ve never done it on paint with peeling clear coat. I know that with a machine polisher and that compound it’ll bring the panel back to a decent condition if done properly obviously.

Awesome mate thanks. What’s my options with the peel?
