Think I may well be on the road to parting with my car. I want a van for camping/fishing/motorbikes I have no idea what it’s worth but a big part of me can’t sell it

CUP HOLDERS!!!!!

As ive sead before, i want 2 cup holders in my car.
Just out clearing my car out of 18 months of random crap and had a look at the replacement cup holder i bought to replace the broken one i have fitted.
Finding a lhd one can be easier sead than done.
I found that the front panel just unclips and can be flipped round so will go in place of the heated rear window switch.
Just need to remove the white cup emblem from the front and bingo, 2 cup holders.

Also saw forge engine cover if that's the price could be a bargain for someone's engine bay

Thats the idea.
Just less red paint and remove the emblems from the cup holders.
I prefer with emblems but not upside down.

In regards of the cupholders, yes you're spot on in saying the facia just unclips.
You should be able to remove the white emblems with some acetone.

I might be joining you - would be nice to have a T5 or something I can fit out for sleeping, but then that's what everyone else seems to want to do, so prices are going up. Should have bought one years ago.

Have basically spent the past two days taking my engine to pieces only to be defeated by a 5mm allen bolt in the EGR cooler. No way am I going to risk rounding that off, so I'm going to swallow my pride and get a garage to do it instead. Hands and arms are scraped to pieces, I'm anxious my air intake pipe isn't seated properly and I didn't manage to clean anything but the MAP sensor, which was just two screws and some contact cleaner.

I am not in a good place right now.

But there's still something about that car that keeps me coming back.

You could add a double din surround and put a single din head unit back in. That way you can run one of these for double drink holders.

It’s the clips on the coolant hoses that do that - it’s like the engineers were saying ‘let’s make an already awkward job as painful as possible as well’.

The worst thing is the amount of taking apart I did - elbow pipe out, EGR valve off, air intake pipe out, even undid the 12mm nuts on the EGR cooler to the exhaust manifold - was convinced I was going to snap one of those studs. There comes a point where you have to commit to doing something that can’t be undone, and I just wasn’t in that kind of mood yesterday. Even less so when my neighbour started trying to offer me advice and he knows nothing about cars.

In the end, I’m really peed off, but I’d rather be peed off having not done it than peed off that I rounded off a bolt in a super awkward place that I wouldn’t be able to drill or grind out.

I’m going to stick to the shock absorbers. What could possibly go wrong doing that, huh?

Thought about it! Did a DVLA tax check on the old girl to see if she was still alive, delighted to see its taxed until July 2022! SY03AZD still kicking around on here anyone? I traded it in around 3 years ago, last I saw it was for sale around Glasgow a couple of years ago.

Booked the car in at a fairly reputable garage for next Wednesday. Talked them through the issues and they don’t think their intake cleaner will do anything, but they’ll hook the car up to their scanner and I’ll get any codes that might come up so I can choose what to do next.

The guy I spoke to sounded like a proper mechanic too - you always know them when you talk to them.

Took the shifter tower apart. Apparently from my oil leak the bushings were covered in old slimy oil that was stopping the springs returning it to a neutral position, smooth as glass now

Bought some Pro Race 20mm rods ready for my build.

Been offered an AET380 set up for a good price but I’ve already got a ported chinafold (brand new) so not sure what to do as I was going to keep my current hybrid.

Nice, is this Chinafold ported to suit an AET380 though?

Mine isn’t as I wasn’t planning on swapping the turbo for a while (it’s already a hybrid) but the one in the kit is. It will put an extra £1k on my build but then I will have the best of everything.
