Cupra formentor infotainment issues

So I had my car in at the dealer today... sadly didn't replace the screen, all they did is confirm the issue via checking serial/part numbers, and SEAT confirmed it's an affected unit - so a new one has been ordered. God knows how long that will be in coming.

My car (V2 1.5 DSG) has been in with the dealer for over 2 weeks, had issues from day 1 with the screen, software (phone not working, radio breaking up screen freezes, air conditioning just coming on even the AC system is switch off etc). Took 17 days waiting to get an appointment at the dealer. Mine needs a new screen, software updates etc and no screens are available and are on back order, no idea when the car will be available etc. Spoken to Cupra customer services and they are terrible, they can tell me nothing and appear not to be interested in offering any help at all.
I hope that nobody else is going through my issues, if so, good luck as I think you will need it.

Argh, really sorry to hear that... and I hope you get a resolution sooner rather than later.

I have to say my dealership and service experience here has been fantastic. The screen taking a while to be delivered is a pain in the arse, but I couldn't be happier with the communication and attitude from the dealer itself. They even offered to swap over a screen from a demo car in the interim but I thanked them for the offer and said I'd wait.

Thanks, my dealer is not bad, but Cupra customer services are terrible.
According to my dealer there are different manufactures of the screens and they had to take mine off to find the manufacture and part number etc and nothing was in the unit. They have had to send photo's etc to Cupra Technical for them to advise what parts to order. They ordered the part I believe on Tuesday last week, spoken to Cupra customer services on Friday afternoon and they could not even confirm that the part had been ordered, cannot advise when the part would arrive and when the part would be fitted and I will get my car back.
My dealer has been fine, they have lent me an manual Ateca (SE) to use in the meantime but it is not what I bought.
I suppose in hindsight Cupra should not release the vehicle if the systems do not work especially when you look at how many people are effected.

I think the parts that are involved are actually VW-wide also - might be in a slightly different housing, but the actual screen and tech behind etc. is certainly not limited to SEAT/Cupra.... I imagine that VW/Audi/Skoda etc. owners are facing similar problems.

The last couple of days, I’ve had some random popping noises from the infotainment; also today, the emergency call SOS message flashed up. I ignored it, and next time I started the car, it had gone away.

Do you get some sort of crackling/popping noises when pressing the power button? If so, it likely needs to be replaced.

By power button, are you referring to the engine start/stop button on the wheel or the on/off touch button for the infotainment?

Mine crackles a bit when I turn it off, and the dealer said it was an indicator :)
I am shocked and suprised if I ever encounter a dealer that isn't collectively staffed by idiots.

I started to hear an intermittent clicking noise the other day while on the motorway, appeared to be coming from the drivers area but couldn’t locate it. It continued even with speaker volume set to 0 (if that makes any difference, were it the speakers?).

Separately, on one occasion there was a fairly loud pop from the speakers - a bit disconcerting, sounded like something had hit the car.

Yep, precisely, I've had one of those loud pops as well and I thought precisely the same as you, like a big stone had hit the car or something - all seems related to the infotainment head unit, so once replaced should be fine. :)

I've had my VZ2 for 3 weeks and I also get a loud double pop from the speakers, interesting from the left side only though and only on longer journeys.
The most frustrating message is 'updated your settings' or the constant logouts resetting the temperature to 22.
Most worryingly is when I was at a roundabout the other day and just as I hit the accelerator the engine wouldn't restart and I had to sit there until the infotainment had finished logging me out.

That’s bizarre & dangerous. My understanding is that the ECU is very much separate to infotainment for a very good reason.

I can’t even imagine the vehicle passing qualification if it’s core drive functions were in any way dependent on the dodgy infotainment operating system.

Had mine three weeks too, but I haven’t set myself (or anyone else) up as a user.
I just get and drive. Old Skool style. 🤣
Have had no issues with infotainment at all other than on occasion it’s a bit laggy, but I can count those occasions on the fingers of one hand.
aircon settings, radio favourites, drive modes are all retained when I get back in the car, even though some had said their cars defaulted back to “Normal” on every start up. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Think I’ll keep it like it is. 👍🏼

Volkswizard is having many of the same issues with his new club sport golf GTi...it's a vag group issue not just cupra/seat.

I also get this pop and bang from speakers, probably for last two weeks. I thought it's plastic bottle making that pop noise, after sitting in the sun. But today, after the pop, SOS system went out and I got error on the dash. Navigation didn't lose location, but was a bit off when getting close to home. It jumped between streets nearby. Now Cupra App is not showing correct status as well, because car didn't update servers about it. It's showing status from work couple of hours ago, open door and bonnet and car unlocked.

It's interesting that it started to happen only recently. Problems with SOS or communication modules failing after some time or some backend issue on VW servers?
