A suggestion. After sunday when the missus and i were out in the car. Cappuccino each.
Mine in the cup holder and hers in the cup holder in the glove box lid.
No prises for guessing what happened when i went round a bend in the road!
Got ya, I actually sourced a LHD cupholder from Germany about 3 years ago but it's not left my collection of bits since it arrived as I've not found a heated window switch relocation solution I was entirely happy with but may revist the idea again sometime soon.

Yeh, after that post i had a look on Ebay to no avail. For a lhd car i assume.
If one turns up i may get it and se whats what.
Itll be relocating the switch thatll be the problem (as you sead). To make it look factory.

Oh how I yearn to get back to cleaning it...it's only been washed once in about 18 months and having been parked in a semi open barn on a working farm it's most definitely taken its toll on the old girls appearance.

Ideally I was hoping to dig through the VAG catalogue of switches of the same era to source a similar push switch to the ESP & fuel flap ones so it could reside inline with those but no such luck as yet.

I'll keep an eye out for a cup holder and if i find one I'll cross the switch location bridge when it comes to it.

Had a quick look on google images and saw a defender one that looks similar to the fuel filler switch etc.
Saying that, i like the factory look.
Hidden switch maybe an option.

Cheers 👍

In other news.
My local garage ordered in the remaining parts to convert my car back to using the standard pcv system.
Going to pick em up later and if i have time, I'll have another go at fitting it.

Me and Ebay again lol.

Saw a seat sport gear knob and jumped on it.
Looking at the advert after pulling the trigger, its for an Ibiza and its for a 5 speed 🙈

Unfortunately these crop up much more often than the 6 speed variants and generally go for less money as well which is quite annoying.

Sounds about right. Win some, lose some.
Ill either sell it and get my money back (hopefully)
Or, if it fits my car, change the gate emblem and fit it to my car.

It will definitely fit but sourcing the correct emblem is another story as ive yet to find one in over 2 years of searching.

Here it be.
$_12.jpeg.jpg

I guess i could get a 6 speed gel insert.
I'll see what turns up.
The standard knob on the car is a little ropey as is the steering wheel. Both need addressing at some point.
Just glad i didn't pay too much for it.

It cost a bloody fortune but my pcv system is all back on.
Perfect fit with no dramas.
Still got the catch tank fitted just to see how much crap is recirculated. Will report back at some point.
Does it boost any better without the plasticine pipes?

My mechanic head seas it cant make any difference but.....

..... i took the good lady out last night and it sounded nicer and felt crisper and more responsive (the car, not the missus).

Out again on my own today and felt the same as last night.
Definitely feels like its made a difference.

Ive got loads of creation motorsport pipes on my car and they've fitted 'ok'.
But a waste of money imo on the pcv setup.
