The coolant bottle cover is from an Audi S3 8L and virtually a straight bolt on addition.
Installing the matching battery cover is a little more involved and I'm still working on refining the fit on this one.

Does it just screw in the coolant cover? found a few on Ebay, mines PD150 so might need to check boost pipe clearance.

I need the OEM Leon battery cover not even got that haha.

You'll need the mounting bracket which uses the 2 coolant bottle screws.

Spent the entire friggin day back tracking on some of the work I'd already carried out and created a big space behind the head...

Seriously that was bloody painful!

The plan for tomorrow is to get it all back together with the AET380 turbo, port matched Chinafold & new Badger5 V.2.2 80mm TIP.

Ok so some of you may have seen that I'd posted on the 1.8T tuning group over on Facebook in regards to this install so to save me time I'll simply quote it here as its obviously very relevant to this thread and my sanity.

"Having just spent the past couple of days pulling apart my recently completed engine bay to remove the Mamba K04 hybrid turbo and Relentless Pro4 manifold to make way for the AET380 turbo and port match Chinafold I've been met with waaay more issues than I ever anticipated!

Apart from the fact working at the rear of the engine is bloody horrific on these cars why the **** is every oil and coolant line so damn restricted to get to?

First problem which I've kinda got round now was the oil feed line which was fouling the outer manifold stud - a combination of tweaking the pipe and shallower nut gave me the extra few mm needed...I think

Next up is the cold side turbo outlet is pointing towards the firewall, im guessing it may need clocking a touch but can this be done in situ as I REALLY don't want to remove it again due to the lines and it's already been off twice already?

Now for the big ******* problem which I can't believe I've encountered - the downpipe is hard up against the floor pan and gone from been very very close to the steering rack with my old set up to been pushed right over the opposite side of the tunnel.
So much so that it's going to be unusable FFS!
Surely this isn't normal with Chinafolds & AET turbos which is very common and popular combination?
The only way I can see to resolve this is to get the car transported to an exhaust specialist and have the downpipe modified, definitely not something I was expecting.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated, and yes torching it has crossed my mind."

Just putting it out there (havnt been up long).
A spacer between the manifold and turbo to move the lot over a little?

The turbo and manifold were supplied with a spacer plate which I've used.
Seen in this photo.

A few people have suggested to use a K04 downpipe flange to push the downpipe across an additional 10mm so that's what I'll do for starters.
Even if I can get it assembled and drivable would be good enough as I'll be taking it to the exhaust place anyway.

Clocking of the turbo coldside is definitely on the cards as well, when I offered up my CB Auto heatshield the cold outlet was half way under the cut out so there's no way I'd be able to fit the charge pipe.

With this brings another issue to resolve as when you clock the turbo it changes the position of the oil feed line and that was crap enough as it was so a more flexible HEL aftermarket line will be required I think.

No actual work to report but fingers crossed I'll get a few hours down the workshop over the weekend

In other slightly more interesting news I've just spent a fairly large amount of money on a three lettered item which will certainly be shelved for a while I reckon but should be fun once I get around to installation.

As fantastic as they sound it would actually be a downgrade seeing as they have less power, weigh more and sit further forward in the engine bay.
Obviously if it was turboed or supercharged it'd be a different story but then you're looking a huge financial hit on that one.

That would be fun but not ideally suited to my family commute to Aldi plus a brilliant way to destroy all the man hours I've already put into this car.

True, you don't want to blow the welds on the intake!

Ok that three lettered thing turned up today, I guess it looks like I'll be collecting parts up to strengthen the gearbox in the coming months seeing as it'll be getting pulled out again haha

What box mods are there besides the diff and selector forks?

Very nice by the way 😎

I've got a 4th gear shaft support on order, I'll probably get the billet shaft insert as well.
Steel selector forks will be sourced eventually.
Then I suppose another bloody clutch and flywheel when it's off.

I really need to start driving this car and stop pulling it apart
