What did you and your MK2 do today?

Just drove my MK 2 Cupra today, still getting used to her after a weeks ownership. Makes a change from the 350z.

Planning to take her to a local specialist and have them give it a proper look over.

92k Miles, previous owner seems to have taken relatively good car with great service history. Been through the codes with my mates VAG-COM cable, nothing major, boost is opening or closing too early or something.

Dealership photo attached, haven’t managed to take any good ones myself yet.

Any advice what I should be looking out for / modifying would be ideal.

Check the cambelt has been done. Cam follower not worn. Diverter valve not split. Pcv not leaking. Then get it remapped!

For official parts. Listers and Hortons are forums sponsors and give a discount. Unofficial eurocarparts. Aftermarket midlandvw, awesomegti.

Carista came in the post so I’ve been playing around with Carista and ODB Fusion.

Monitoring boost I can see that the turbo is still overboosting after a bottle of turbo cleaner and tank of vpower but then it’s not ran through yet and it’s not overboosting as often.

Had some error codes which had loosely been as follows:

- CAM Sensor issue, recently replaced this but used a cheap reader to reset. Now reset with Carista.
- Error on all 4 injectors, reset as could be an old log.
- Error related to a few minor electrical issues like the rear screen heater which works without issue. Codes reset.

Enables the following customisations:

- Boot pop - not sure thus actually works on my car but then the struts aren’t the best.
- Daylight rubbing lights on and at 50% brightness.
- Lock/unlock blips - easily my favourite enables feature
- Mirror dip on reverse, haven’t fully set this up yet so not sure as to whether or not it works.

Easily worth the £16 for Carista and the £10 for ODB fusion.

Oh and Carista managed to reset the tyre pressure light which other readers failed with.

Replaced the transmission seal that you can see through the nearside wheel arch and changed the fluid... its an odd seal, why have a hole in the middle of it at all?!

Late in stating this, work was done for me on Friday just gone (5/10), had Cambelt Kit + Water Pump, Aux. Water Pump replaced, Full Service and 4 new tyres.

Car feels much better although more work to have done but should fly through Novembers MoT =)

Took the door card off to replace the Wing mirror, all went rather smoothly (A bit too smooth apparently) and now whenever I put my drivers side window all the way down it falls of the runners and it wont go up properly.

Another 8 hour job after work today of taking it off and seating the window on the runners :banghead:

I thought have a laugh and ordered these LED HB4 bulbs from Wish.com for £10 inc postage for the front fogs. The listing is for one bulb not two.

I'm amazed that they are just fine and I don't get a check bulb warning :funk::bounce:

Them fogs look like they have a big butt... Do they fit in the housing ok as the standard ones have a 90 degree angle on them... Or is that link showing me the wrong pic? I haven't signed up so not sure what's behind it lol

Yeah plenty of room behind the only tight bit was the front of the heat-sink presses on the plastic when twisting into the holder but pushed the bulb with a screwdriver on the bulb tabs and in they went just fine [B)]

Here is where it touches when screwing in at the top of the angled bit of the heatsink.

I wish i was joking but no im not . I was sceptical at the 100000LM claim as we know that isn't going to be true but I will test again when leaving work but tried on off several times and never got an error. Spelling in the pictures is terrible but i didn't care about that not to order.
