F*ck, sorry to hear that. Surely it can't be that fickle, you could try re-setting the system (press and hold power till it come back on), with the updated card in?

Phew, I felt a bit responsible there since I was the dafty who suggested just bunging the old card in!See my update above

I am now thinking is it safe to update again to 1030, which worked fine the first time or not risk it?
Does the card have to remain unlocked or doesn’t it make any difference, I can’t remember?
This is an idiots guide for complete novices to update their MIb2 Standard maps using a Mac rather than a Windows PC. With grateful thanks and acknowledgement to all those members much more clever than me who have posted all the useful information and links to enable us mere mortals to update our maps FOC.
My apologies for this being long-winded but if it helps one member it will have been worth it.
Worked a dream on my Mac and 2018 Leon, now gone from 910 to 1030. Thanks
Well guys here we go again...........Now as I know I have a working Nav with my original V6 915 maps, I thought I'd take another look at the older V2 SD card that didn't work with 1030 maps and I found an error in my updating, the OVERALL.NDS file was in the wrong place, it was in the EEC folder rather than the EEC/WILD folder, how this happened I'm not sure.
Anyway to cut a long story short and taking the stupid risk of trying it again (I know I'm an idiot but I don't like giving up), the old SD card with the 1030 maps only went & WORKED!
Can't believe it. So I know have my £10 eBay card in and working with 1030 and I've left my original card as 915 as it was when I took delivery.
Stevan we shouldn't have doubted you, you were right all along!
Maybe worth picking up a dirt cheap card as back up if you damage or lose your own as long as you have it backed up on other media.
Cool, I was hoping you'd try again but dared not suggest it...
I wouldn't worry about handing a car back with updated maps.
I must admit I was very nervous about trying it again, but when I found my error I was almost certain that it would work when corrected. Have you tried your original card to see if it still works? I have left the previous version of maps on my original card but haven’t put that back in to make sure it still works.
I will probably just keep updating the eBay card and keep my original untouched to put back in the car when I return it to the Leasing company.
I definitely remember trying the old (original) card and it working. It was a while ago though, I vaguely remember it moaning about it's database which I maybe just hard resetted through, but can't say for sure. I'm a bit nervous about testing this just now though....
Working on the basis that Tell is correct and the hidden partition is transferred to a new card at least we have proved that if you damage or lose your original SD card you can at least purchase a cheapy from the Bay, update it and carry on without having to buy an expensive replacement from the dealer.
