The latest version displays the factory identifiers instead of arbitrary location numbers, so you just end up with hundreds of items in German.

Apart from that it looks the same and behaves the same from what I can see so far but still playing with it....

I have managed to do some of the stuff I wanted but just the mirrors are proving tricky

Could you please take a screen shot of the german listing...have they removed the nr. ex (2)bla bla in german??

Thinking all our the saved coding is not up to date now?

Havent looked at the Mirror closing on Locking the doors, should work i gues ;)

Tried again the long way round and it's worked along with a load of other stuff.

Trying to get the carbon MIB screen but it say coding not available in this control unit when I select long coding helper on 07

I had the same problem, My Leon FR needed this coding

5- Bit 00 = Activate
6- Bit 01 = Activate (default value: Bit 01 = Aktive only)

Hope this helps :)

******************************************
Final Coding of the Carbon MIB

1- Codning - 07
2- Position 17
3- Long Coding Helper (Window pop ERROR, press OK)
4- Choose: Byte 17
5- Bit 00 = Activate
6- Bit 01 = Activate (default value: Bit 01 = Aktive only)

Close window
(Copy Current code, just to be safe)
Do it!

Now Long press the power off button on the radio until its rebooted and ready to use.

Carbon bacground should then be in place

Hi thanks for the reply, yes they have removed the "nr. ex (2)bla bla in german?? " it now just gives the long factory code- which means nothing to most people unless they subscribe to the vag manuals at €2500 A YEAR or €7 an hour- for the item and a long description in German

Sad to say it, as people should be rewarded for their work, but as it is it makes the genuine vcds with 16.8 software, almost useless on the Mk3 now, unless you only want needle sweep and one or two other basic things, or you read German well

I'm not near my computer at mo to post a screen shot, but maybe another member who is using 16.8 could post up a screen shot of the list :)

Here is a screen shot above and below is all that I can find that is similar to what the guides state on here about mirror folding.
I have even been through the whole list one by one but it just says channel not available.

thanks
Phil

Hey Phil,
Maybe this update is not that bad.....The ID nr are just way longer and there are more of them, so when we search for a specific channel your search list is just shorter?? But right now our coding is not up to date and the question is, can we find the channels via our old listing of codes ;)

Thanks for you imput jazz, and to Phil for posting the screen shot.

Anyway surly the simple answer is to allow the genuine vcds user to load the older 15.× software and use that till a more permanent solution is found?
As it's a bit annoying that you can't do xyz with the £300 Genuine vcds, yet some one with a £12 clone can [:@]

Ross Tech have mailed me back and said:

"16.8 has changed the way channels are displayed but it should not have removed any compared to 15.7"

They have also asked me to send a channel map which I will do over the weekend and see if it will help.
(still a newbie with all this adaption/coding lark)

who.am.i

Is there any chance you could post a screen shot of the adaption channel you changed for the mirror using your VCDS?

cheers
Phil

Have a search through this thread, I'd normally recommend you get the genuine one, as whilst it sounds a lot, it's loose change when compared to the cost of the car and when you are done they fetch almost what they cost to buy on fleabay.
Plus you get full support, and updates, although the last one didn't really help if your a mk3 leon owner.

That said, If you buy one now, it's not much use at mo for the mk3 because of the issues above,so if you do want a clone avoid fleabay, ali express is normally where they can be found, can't point you to a link cos they change all the time and it can be a crap shot on of they work or not, and people have reported tokens etc in the software that comes with then, but if your still keen a search on here and on ali express should find what your after

Just an advice!!
Use a non professional ODBII cable is not afviseble!! Non of the big mecanic centers have or dare to use a copy or a cheap version of Ross-Tech's OBDII cable.....for the one reason only.....faulty uploadings or connections. It has happened that a non original cable a reset the system, so nothing works after. My friend has worked at Bosch and have got a scary story of some guys using a non original Mercedes cable and it reset the hole canpus channels to zero....Mercedes did reset back to factory.......but it was nooooooot cheap.

So buying a original cable is the safest way to go.....exepensive yes, but you dont cut Corners ;)

Good hunt ;)

Reinstate Park Assist on VCDS 16.8

reversing%20camera.jpg
[/IMG]
I am using VCDS release 16.8. Due to a problem with my Auto-box Seat reset the system which deactivated my after market Park Assist and my reversing camera is showing part of my number plate. Retrofits Nuneaton have sent me instructions to activate Park Assist but I am having trouble finding 5F second screen installation 2 on my Ross Tech VCDS. I have managed to get the optical picture of the car on the screen by means of long coding but the number plate on the screen defeats me. Any help would be appreciated.
here is a quick step by step guide sent to me by Retrofits but I cannot find No 3 5F infotainment.

1. 19 CAN Gateway - Installation List - Activate 10 Park/Steer Assist

2. Program the 10 Park/Steer Assist according to vehicle's specification. (manual/auto Rear view camera, towbar etc)

3. 5F Infotainment - go to Adaptation - set all to active
Vehicle function list BAP-parking_assist_0x0A
Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_pdc
Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_pdc_over_threshold_high

I made some changes using OBDeleven:

1-Rare lights DLR
2-Mirrors fold with one touch
3-5 time blink on flashers
4-Needle sweep
5-Carbon background for infotainment
6-Background FIS Carbon mode
7-Refuel quantity
8-Shut daytime (DRL) with light switch in position 0

I highly recommend this OBDeleven.

Do you need to use the OBDEleven dongle or can you use others?

I have Ebay Dongle + Carista at the moment
