Any error codes or problems with the LED perf lights? Did you need to use the resistors?

No error codes. Did use the resistors on the back seat lights as they had a slight glow, but the rest of them worked fine.

Did break the plastic tab for the boot light ((, which I glued back on, but is very loose. Will need to order a replacement soon to make it snug again.

Sport at weekends in my own time for a bit of fun.



I get annoyed when people hammer past me only to slow down and then force me to use brakes. I get such high MPG by hardly ever using the brakes. On motorways I use to cruise control to get me up to speed and thereafter use the cruise to adjust braking distances, it is only if I have to come to a dead stop that I use the middle peddle. this technique requires a lost of observation and I am looking 1/2 mile ahead.



Accelerate brake accelerate is what costs MPG.



I once got 620 to the light and still had 50 miles range left.

That does sound amazing fuel wise but for driving pleasure it doesn't sound very fun to me. I drive in individual most of the time; engine normal and a/c eco. And only sport mode once every now and then

I came back from Luton at the end of work on Thursday.

180 miles to the BP garage on Dewsbury road Leeds for 78 mpg which is my new record. yes it is an ST FR 184 but I was only one up and had only a few things in the boot. If it hadn't been raining when I got to Sheffield,I think I could have squeezed another 1 mpg

Me and the new Leon saw each other for the first time today.... Pickup is tomorrow morning but I drove past the dealer earlier and saw her nose peeping out from round the back

Achieved my first 600+ miles to the fuel light.

633 miles to the fuel light coming on.

Filled up at 665 miles and it took 47.61 ltrs

63.5mpg over a full tank in sport mode

Quite happy with that.

I am used to sharp throttles on motorbikes so I prefer the FEEL of a more instant throttle.
I end up using more throttle when it feels dozy in eco mode.
The car lives in sport mode now - I never change it.

Also realised I can quite easily do better than the cruise control if the road is not very level.
The cruise control wont allow overspeed on the over run when going down hill to allow more momentum for the next hill.

Hmm I tried a tank in ECO mode and ended up using the same amount of fuel as when I use individual and definitely not as many smiles per miles. Maybe I'll try Sport mode. What type of roads do you drive on a day to day basis?

That wasn't a day to day normal for me - it was covered in two days.

But that trip was 250 ish miles of A roads ( A17, A47, A14, A11 )
and the rest was motorway ( M61, M62, A1M, M42, M6 )


On an average month I get about the same as you - 520 ish to the light.

Ahh ok, no point then. Perhaps when I go on a long trip. I'll be driving to Hungary next summer so maybe I'll give it a go then

Swung by the dealer whom I'm really not that fond on dealing with. They make so many admin/office mistakes where you have to come back, any time you ask them to something, no matter how minor it's like you're asking them to move the mountains themselves.

Got greeted in the most cold and pedantic fashion, when I came in to tell them the oil light was on asking for a top up kit, or someone to do it, whichever was quicker. With "have you checked it". I had already explained it came on my way home and that having turned up at the dealers was the first day light opportunity to actually open the bonnet and check it, it was still dark when I left home.

So anyway, needed a litre of oil to top up, only 5000 miles since last service and it was down near the bottom bead on the check stick. £15.

I found it to be worse on most occasions in eco, I think because you find yourself compensating for the delay, I just leave it normal these days, especially as I get irritated for the car to have to light up the mode button in Sport, clashing with everything else!

We came back from Leicester late afternoon to Leeds, 108 miles and 68.4mpg and we killed a pheasant at 50mph in lane two on the M1 northbound just as the M18 leaves to the left. The F*cker ran out from the shoulder and in to lane three and I breathed a sigh of relief as in lane one was an artic and lane 3 had white van man doing 80mph I was just about level with the artic when the bast*rd turned round and ran like roadrunner with Wylie E Coyote on its ass with a stick of dynamite.......back in to lane two where bird and Leon met for two brief moments, one on the front grill and the second one just a millisecond later on the top of the windscreen. I am happy to report that no body panels were harmed during the making of this anecdote and that somewhere there is a pheasant with an 'S' logo in the middle of it's stupid face.

The more I read about stealers on here, the less impressed that I am with my car. I have been happy from word one and usually negotiate prices for jobs that need doing such as tracking, new tyres etc.

My son had an 08 plate Ibiza that were had serviced in North Yorkshire in a town known for being posh and that stealer never impressed us but the cost of plastic parts like chip cutter grills were quite cheap compared with say Vauxhall.

What worries me is that it should be a simple job to remove and refit a chip cutter grill or rad grill and as far as I can tell they don't need painting. On the old Ibiza I could do a lot myself when the car was over my Dad's inspection pit.

For 400 quid I am guessing that the whole bumper needed to be removed and something else was broken. you have really worried me now about the costs of simply hitting a bird on the road. Have you a thread with the details of your sad story??

Incidentally I am using a stealer in LS29 and they have been OK so far, even allowing me to stay with the vehicle during inspections and showing me what they have found before doing any work.

I hit a pheasant a few weeks back - must admit I was doing about 80, and it went into the bottom left bumper.
Got home and the foglight was just flopping around in the opening.
Dealer said new light unit needed, and would send estimate.
called into local Ford RapidFit wher they also have a good bodyshop. The manager came out pushed, pulled, investigated, and said he could refit it in about an hour.
gave me a lift home, called me an hour later, all done, no parts, £30 to remove wheel arch liner, refit light and liner.
Amazing service!!

Well last week I fitted the winter tyres, here is the car midway through


Today I had to get them balanced as they were vibrating the car like mad... all good now though
