Best cleaning/protecting products for the Leon?

Would be interested to know what effect all these products would have on my car that has been Diamond Brite treated? I've always had them done by the dealer when new as I have really noticed the difference when washing (far too infrequently I admit!) - previous Audi's were Autoglym'ed but this DB treatment on my 280 seems superior. First proper wash with the supplied shampoo and after wash solution and it came up like new. Would using snow foam and fancy wax damage/alter the DB treatment does anyone know?

A ph neutral snow foam shouldnt strip the Diamond Brite, nor should a shampoo from a regarded brand (used to the correct dilution ratio). Most of the better known brands will normally state on the bottle that they wont strip wax and other last stage products.

Why would you be waxing on top of the DB? I prefer to wash/seal a fully cleaned/decontaminated car otherwise you're just sealing in surface contaminents and not getting the best out of the product.

Ive had DB on two Black Magic Skodas as it was thrown in, I dont rate it personally. I think it's just sn easy way for the dealer to make extra cash out of the sale. No offence is meant here.

Pressure Washer and a Snowfoam Lance is a must!

Great fun, helps to stop swirls and you should see your neighbours faces when you start to use it. :)

I have to agree here, the first time I snow foamed my car the neighbours were looking like WTF.....lol does do a great job plenty videos on YouTube.....look up bilt hamber on utube. Some foams might strip the LSP on the car just check before you buy.......personally I think if you gave what it cost for the DB and gave a detailer it it would be better.

I much prefer a citrus precleaner (valet pro or orchard auto care) to snow foam as it removes much more dirt, though can also strip wax. I use meguiars gold class shampoo to wash.

As for other stuff, I keep coming back to autoglym super resin polish and HD wax. HD wax lasts for months, love it.

Made a wishlist on cleanyourcar with the stuff i think ill need and that has strong reviews, what do you think?

If it was me....
I'd have a lambs wool washmitt rather than a sponge
Meguiars ultimate polish instead of autoglym SNP
Snow foam lance off eBay save at least £15
Alloy wheel cleaner such as valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner
Alloy wheel cleaner brush
Just my thoughts not a criticism.....:)

I'd recommend 2 drying towels. Screwfix do buckets much cheaper. You'll need a stack of microfibre cloths. Tyre black and application sponge finish the job nicely.

The best item on your list is the huge microfibre towel. I have one and it will dry two cars without wringing out. It's so big you could buy one as a bath towel.

You have the clay kit on the list, but no separate detailer. I use this one which is very cheap as it is an industrial sized pack..http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-sprays/meguiars-last-touch/prod_225.html

I have used clay, but I spotted this recently. It arrived this morning, but I haven't had a chance to try it. It it does what they say, it will be much easier than clay and cheaper in the long run.

If you're going to get a clay bar then take a look at Bilt Hamber medium clay bars. Can be used with water as a lube. Its great too.

Microfibre Scratches?

Having just found how good Microfibre towels are for drying, I have recently seen on other forums etc lots of claims hat Microfibre can cause minor scratches, swirling etc!
Microfibre towels are supposed to 'hold' any contaminant but does this mean that micro-grit is acting as a grinding paste?

Don't drag your drying towel across the paint - blot up the water with it.
Consider a dedicated drying towel. The microfibre madness 'dry me crazy' is excellent.

Halfords sell these and surprisingly they are cheaper than Amazon at £12.99.

They sound good, let me know how you get on with it ;)

If you wax your car you can sheet dry it... which just means running a constant stream of water over it (end of a hose with no attachment for example) and the water will "sheet" off... then a quick dab for the odd spot with your towel and your done. Thats what I do, and on a black car the less i put stuff on the paintwork the better!

Never used a clay 'mitt' however if you buy bilt and hambers clay bar it's 200g for like 10.95 So you should be able to do your car a few times with it.....and no detailer required.....designed for water as lube.....:p
