Hey,
I've also recently done an upgrade to an RNS-315.
It sounds like the HU is loosing its perm live feed and reverting back to its default. Did you get the unit off eBay?
Mine came from the EU. There seems to be a big market in them repairing faulty ones and selling on ebay! Maybe yours has an actual fault though.
Have you tried putting back the standard HU you had in the vehicle? If so does this also loose its presets?
It could be worth trying that or removing the 315 and powering it up on the bench and see if it looses presets that way.
You are a bit far off or i would have said drop it down to me and we can go through most of the standard checks.
Yeah it was an ebay purchasebut was a UK distributor, well at least i think it is.
As for the standard HU i think i may have a problem with that, i dont have the code in any of my owners manuals unless it just drops in and turns on? But when i had the standard HU in before the presets would stay so should it change once the radios have been swapped?
I'll have to pull the 315 unit out and have a go at work.
As for the old unit having a switched or permanent live, would the wiring looms not be the same throughout the model range apart from the exception of the bluetooth module? Or are the pin setup on the back of the units different?![]()
Sorry I took this long to update this thread, I finally managed to enable both, the mic and the Optical Parking System (OPS) at my RNS 315.
The mic job was done at the Stealer's shop, they just bridged and connected a couple of wires directly to the HU's back from the actual BT unit connector, integrating them into the HU's one. Not a big deal, but a big price for the job and warranty.
As for the OPS, here's how I achieved to enable it:
At vagcom (VCDS)
- Module 10 Park/Steer Assist
- Function 16 Security Access
- Move the cursor over the "Enter security access key" field and it will display a key number, type it in and press "Do it!"
- Module 07 Coding
- Press "Long coding helper"
- Select Byte 0 and mark Bit 4 "Optical Ilustration active", then exit that window
- Press "Do it!" to save the new code.
- Module 37 Navigation
- Function 07 Coding
- Press "Long Coding Helper"
- Go to Byte 6 and select "00 Optical Park System & Interior Graphics: Standard (via CAN)" from the drop list, then close that window.
- Press "Do it!" to save the new code.
Cheers!
Well I've taken out the new radio and checked the loom to see if I'm still getting a permanent supply where I should be and all seems ok on that end. As for putting the old unit back in, well as I don't have the four digit security code I can't get past that screen to see if the presets will stay or not. But what's got me thinking even after I've unplugged and removed the new rns315 unit and re installed it's still has my home address saved on the navigation and my bluetooth connection still works even though the power has been fully disconnected. So why does the language default back to Dutch?
Head is pickled with this one![]()
It's probably the default language on the unit - firmware maybe?
I know this was posted a while ago but I followed these instructions and managed to enable OPS on my car. I retro fitted an RNS 510 and already had factory installed reverse sensors. Contrary to information provided in this thread, the factory fitted reverse sensors are compatible with OPS.
Hi,
I am about to fit an RNS 310 to my Leon but am struggling to find where to get the facia panel from, can anyone help?
I've spoken to 2 of my local Seat dealers but without a part number they are useless
Thanks in advance!
Although it may have been the default language it would never store the selection I had made, same with storing radio presets but would store the details off addresses on the navigation and bluetooth connection for my phone.
Anyway I gave in eventually and returned the unit a week later and decided it was faulty but oddly enough I've been looking about again today for another unit and have one last stab at this retro fit. If I get the same problems again with a completely different unit I think I may have a bigger problem...... maybe.![]()
I know it was an old post but has any one else had this issue? not sure if mine is doing the same as fitted it but then the car went off to the garage for some warranty work, wife collected it today and the radio was asking for the code again, but not sure if the garage disconnected the battery or not.
