Hey Darren, I've got to be honest, I've been a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to wrapping - like the finish of paint too much, but I've seen more and more wrapped cars of late and have been really impressed with the quality and variety of finish - no longer just the matt finish. It sounds to me that you're curious about this route, so for the money and longer term plan of a paint job, I'd go for it. A different look which'll hopefully give you a bit of excitement back for the car looking its best. one of the best cars on here by far and I agree that it'll only look better.

I've got a spare g/b shim kit going spare should you want it, as my g/b has a solid casing fitted :)

Whats the gearbox spline mod Darren? Mines got to have a new clutch very soon so whilst its out I might have to do it if its of any benefit

I cant find the thread but you can get play on one of the shafts on the gearbox which causes whine in 2nd and 3rd gear, there's a ring that you can put on the shaft that removes the play and is meant to stop the whining

Thanks for your comments with regard to the wrapping guys :)
the vinyls have moved on a lot recently and you can get all sorts of finishes now as well as matte, I've also been told you can polish and wax it and even use a DA on it so long as you dont use too much pressure or too abrasive polish and pad.
If I go down the wrap route I want as close a finish to paint as possible in regard to gloss and shine, the one I've chosen is metallic too.
I have looked at dipping but it's not really much cheaper than wrapping.
I've got a few colours in mind if I was to do a full colour change, the main one being silver with a black flip in the paint :) but this will cost in excess of £2000

Another reason I'm leaning towards the wrap is I dont really want to spend £1500 for the car to look the same as it does now, if I wrap the bonnet and run it for a year then I'll have a new look this year and then when & if I do wrap it it will look different again :D
This is the silver I want :D

Yesterday I made a start on something I planed to do ages ago :)

I was only planing on doing the top but I thought it would look a bit odd and when the boot is open you wouldnt see the carbon :)
I started by stripping off all the fabric, the surface is very porous so I've sealed it with a mix of PVA and water, I did start spraying it black but ran out of spray, this is done so that if the weave separates when wrapping it you wont see the light surface through the weave.
I'm going to leave it for a few days for the PVA to fully dry then start sanding it smooth, once it's smooth I'll put done another black base coat then wrap the under side.
I've got enough cloth to do 1 side the moment so this might take a while to finish.

Dont carbon the underneath especially round the area where it clips in cause it will rattle like hell.

Already have done mate :) Although I had a bit of a problem wit the resin not taking properly, really it needs skinning again :( If I carry on with it it have a felt strip around the edge to stop it rattling ;)

i can imagine it will reflect on the rear screen to like having a rear dashboard.

It was only going to used for shows so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I know where your coming from :)

It's been a while since I last updated this
There's been a lot going on recently which has lead to the car being a bit neglected over the last few month's, but I'm slowly getting back into it :)
Got a few special bits to finish off then she's off to Legend Vehicle specialists in October for some long over due body work to be sorted :)
Doesn't look like I'm going to make it to any more shows this year but hopefully we'll get everything sorted for next year.
