Spent another 2 hours on her today, added some more blue to the bay, and fitted the 3/4 plate.

This came through too, a bit bigger than I'd like. Got it because I want people to know they have been very black smoked by a diesel :) Going to spray it black to go along with the theme, and see how I like it. Will go in the normal tdi badge's place, bottom right of boot lid.

Won't touch her until the weekend now, but then I have planned to take the front suspension units out, strip them and Loctite the locking collars on the joms, fit OEM Cupra R top mounts, change both ball lower ball joints, change o/s track rod and change front pads for Pagid ones, £30 for £55 pads in ECP's sale. Also coming I have the three LCR grilles and fogs :D she should be loverly by the end of the weekend!!

thanks for your reply mate :), i was going to go down the stage of turbo's next although i think i want the carbon fibre induction kit first followed by a full miltek with a sports cat and from hearing how good yours sounds im considering going for the non resonated exhaust i was going to get the resonated one but i love the sound yours gives off, obviously mine wouldnt be exactly the same, then i think ill be doing all my piping followed by a front mount intercooler and a forge aqutator, just means ill have to be a little sensible then go for the turbo route ?, the plan is get every thing done first then the turbo followed by another map celtic tuning again probably, yours is impressive mind ive read the whole thread...not stalking you honest :p , i carnt believe your boost gauge is a halfords one out of all the places id never of expected a good one in there , so yours tells you your vac and your psi ? or am i being silly, i was just wanting one for an idea but wanted it to match the dials on my car and also to light up red...about the roofing i think the plan is spray the plastics and leave the roof (for now) just while i decide what to do with it i may but a cupra r roof lining (£120) think i was quoted or i may get it retrimmed, as for the fr to the cupra r didnt realise ours were worth more although ive been made aware my yellow is in high demand as seat keep asking to buy it off me....no chance:lol:

Cracking TDI mate, very impressed :) All worth it in the end eh?

The 3/4 plates look so much better, love mine!

On the pillars being sprayed black... how are these holding up?

Got my door cards as you have seen, but the plastic is that nasty grey, I'm thinking maybe I should spray it instead of going through the hassle of swapping it over for my LCR one's? Just want it to look like an oem finish really.

Like the mini plate mate, I was thinking about one of those but a show plate so can illegally space my letters

Are the letters the same size as on a standard plate ?

If you get an fmic, you'll be wasting money as the one we have is good for at least 250, but I've read 300. You'd just get the looks, but then risk having to remove fogs due to the I/c piping. Mine is LOUD! Can't explain how loud, if you catch the revs right on the overrun it sounds lush, can't explain it just lush lol. It's amazing how many people ask what dump valve I've got too, and if its a 20vt!! Ideally to go bigger turbo or hybrid you'd need a 2.5" downpipe, if not whole system, and darkside recommend up grading the piping, their kit is £350 and I'm not paying that + vat! But you don't need a fmic, just looks good on these until you hit power that requires chunkier rods, uprated pistons and porting heads etc. yes it tells me the vac, which is always zero, as dervs don't use vac like the 20vt's. they're not the best quality but almost an exact match. Is a cupra r roof lining £120 from the dealers? It all depends on condition, but being diesel, with tax insurance and fuel etc they a sort after by a bigger market, that's why their worth a few hundred more, paid £5750 for mine a year ago with 63k, fsh and lots of "ok we'll throw that in's" I'd regret selling mine, glAd I didn't :D

Cheers :D don't usually get thumbs up from LCR boys but appreciate it when I do!!
I wanted one like yours with the GB on it but that meant the outline being blue, so I left it....
To be honest I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get paint that dries rock hard, and your confident it will, mine have a few little marks from re fitting them, and door cards are forever getting knocked by work boots and hovers etc. However, you're in the perfect position to try it out as you can just take the leather out of it doesn't work, or if you're not happy with it.
The reason the paint isn't as hard as It should be is because it hasn't been lacquered, obviously I didn't half shiny panels, and half not lol! The plastikote satin black, with plastikote black primer worked a treat regarding a colour match though....

T0m gave me the website, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality though, I think Steven Hawkins had cut round the edge.... Nothing a viva and file couldn't sort out at work though.
Would you do JP5 .... ? So it would read that? Think I saw you put that somewhere? I can't remember if you hide your plate so I didn't write it lol. No you get the option for U.K letters or Ireland, which are ever so slightly smaller. I got Ireland on a 3/4 plate just plain. Wish I'd got the GB on it now though, looks more legal. It was £15.90 delivered incase you fancy one And its a site called fancyplates. Cheers t0m :)

Yes jp5 then the space. Some pics I posted have my full plate, just didn't want to type it so it comes up in google searches.

Might have a look at that then, I wouldn't get the uk logo on the front of a mini plate anyway. Are they actuall road/mot legal do you know ?

Haha, likewise on my thread from a TDI owner :) Anyone can see the effort and results you've got from your car and it should get recognition. I did consider the TDI Cupra's before I bought my 2nd LCR but swayed back to the R. I sometimes wish it was more economical but oh well, lol.

The plate still looks good mate, defo better than standard size 100%! Good job.

Really useful info on the paint for the door cards there
I'm thinking it's worth a shot like you say and if it doesn't turn out to a good standard then I can just continue with the original plan. Either way I wish it was a simple job and everything just swapped over with a few clicks. Never the case with a Leon
I'll speak to my mate today and see if the paint is something his bodyshop at his garage can mock up and see if they will test it on one door card and see how that turns out. I'm in no rush to fit them but my car is due a service up at his unit soon so might try two birds with one stone.

Cheers again for the info much appreciated :D

I might leave it then lol bad enough I want to illegally space it without it being illegal size on top lol

Thought you just wanted an illegal one for shows? You could have in in Arabic for shows and it would still be lagel, but beside the point no English person could read it lol.

ours are capable of 300 JBS told me that, im sure youll have lots of fun watching my thread when it comes to it ....also been looking at stealth edition fr tdi also another really one lots of inspiration from you two guys to want to do more to mine... cheers for that [/QUOTE]

Who's JBS, Jabba the tuning company? Get the pics and rr up asap! I especially love seeing other diesel rr's, jonjays, Mark Wales and M20fes are the best I think. The stealth edition is something else, if you ever see it in real life, you have to sit in the seats! They're expensive but look soooo good, and are very very comfy from the minute I sat in them, nice and tight with loads of support. I bought my wheels off, M20fes, the stealth edition's owner, and after seeing the whole car it made me want to spend lots and lots lol. Mine is a baby compared to those 3 only a year into the modding scene, tbh I think I've thrown too much money at it lately, and I can see myself keeping it for 2-3 more years yet. Then a Mazda 3 MPS ;) or edition 30 golf/r32 something like that.

It's not worth not doing it properly, mine rattle a little. When I do mine properly, I'm going to plastic weld them I think, it's the best way, and it shouldn't rattle. If you can get some sort of paint off your mate that dries hard, then I'd do that, as you will find it hard to get the same integrity of the whole panel after taking it apart.... Make sure you let me know what you do, if you split and swap though because I'll copy you ;)
I know the plate looks Lush! Got grills now too!! Just need fogs which should be tomorrow!!

Helston, Cornwall. Cornwall is a place I'd describe as very nice if you come here for a week a year on holiday and you get good weather, every other week, it's raining or windy. 20ish miles from Lands End and The Lizard.

Little update, I've solved two massive issues with the car lately, the upper gearbox mount and the 'over oiling' to the turbo. Yesterday I did the mount and the restricted banjo bolt sent by Scott at Darkside Developments. The car used to blue smoke constantly, but now I get a little bit during start up, and a tiny bit after the first and second blip of the accelerator. Very happy!
The new banjo bolt being fitted.
IMG_1848_zps061d8a77.jpg

Haven't got any of the mount, but it's not a mod and it's sorted a huge niggly problem, so I don't need to upload a photo lol.
Today I spent about 6 hours on the car, thought I'd treat her as she has had a rough fem months.
Did a steering wheel refurb
IMG_1872_zpsf31f4675.jpg

I'm going to dye the cream seals tomorrow after work, when I can borrow an air gun.
Washed, polished, windows polished, leather cleaned, and I used Autoglym leather balm on them, it's really good stuff! Nice and shiny leather now, hovered, all panels cleaned and engine bay steam cleaned. Me, being a nob cought my leg with the steam and now I have a big burn on my leg! Horrible blister lol!

The car is so so nice to drive again now! Massively got back the love back :)
Also, I didn't get my parts from ECP so I didn't bother with taking the suspension out, but that will be next week. Along with a T28 and new box with lsd into a mates ZR! Can't wait to get oily on somebody else's pride and joy!

Smaller news, a mate decided to drop his Panda off a ramp haha! Bit of aircraft engineer ingenuity saved the day and the Panda though! Didn't help the sump was off the car, so we had to push it. The car landed on the subframe, literally mm's from hitting the oil pick up!

Very shiny, good job ;)

As for the Panda, if I had a Fiat again I'd probably want to drop it from a great height too...

Cheers :D the outside ones aren't as good, because the brilliant Cornish weather decided to put all my hard work to the side and started raining, and literally hasn't stopped properly since then!
Hahaha I like that! I absolutely rip him for that car! I told him to do a wheelspin in the club yesterday, and he actually said he doesn't know how to! Wet, painted floor is the only reason I said it but he still didn't lol.
No news, can't be bothered to do the trim today, maybe tomorrow. Eurocarparts STILL haven't delivered my fogs, ball joints and pads yet. I am never using them again for delivery!
