so...everything was going great until this happened:

there must've been a small chip in the lacquer that i never noticed before spraying this alloy :( it ended up spreading all over the wheel, taking the rest of the lacquer with it!

all of the other alloys are fine!

been an absolute nightmare this morning, but i suppose it'll just give me an excuse to get them professionally powder coated. :)

brake calipers are nearly done, just need touching up here and there and then a few coats of clear lacquer:

that's 3 alloys done, and one absolutely f***ed.

not even going to bother spraying it, it's too far gone, looks like the alloys will be getting powdercoated through the week.

one of the good ones, with the new jaffa cake callipers:

Looks really good for what it is to be fair, i was looking at getting mine powder coated but il have to wait for abit as i dont think there is anyone really good near me.

cheers!

to be honest its not till you get close up that you can see the runs behind the spokes. i'm quite happy with them (apart from the one i ruined haha) they were never meant to be permanent anyway, was just to see if i liked the colour or not really.

you'd be surprised at the quality you would get from smaller businesses. cheap too, i go to one guy who does 4 wheels for £180.

Mate! What happened lol how did it do that?

haha to be honest i'm not entirely sure...

i sprayed the last alloy at about 10 at night in my garage, just giving it a light coat to dry overnight.

came back in the morning to find it was quite crinkly in places, so i started peeling the foliatec off it, but found to my horror that it was taking the lacquer with it.

anyway, at this point i thought it could be salvaged, so i left it and went and put another lick of paint on the callipers. came back in to the garage to find my dad bent over the alloy, rubbing it with white spirit :censored: the silly old goat removed all of the lacquer!

so in the end i never even bothered to spray it, my dad says he'll stump up £100 towards getting them coated so i'm not too fussed, would rather have a professional finish anyway. :)

least i know i like this colour!

the funny thing is, i would actually recommend this foliatec stuff, think its amazing value, and its really easy to use!

cars in at the powdercoaters tonight having its alloys done. picking it up tomorrow afternoon. changed my mind about the colour at the last minute lol. won't give anything away yet haha.

can't wait to get it back anyway, don't realise how much i use it until i don't have it haha.

will report back with pictures tomorrow night :)

car's looking more like a bocablanco with the amount of road dust on it right now:

so a big wash is on the cards today! I've finally began sorting out all of my detailing products too.

heres a wee snap of my new wheels, finished in matte dark graphite with a metallic flake (this is very subtle and can only be seen in direct sunlight) i'm absolutely chuffed with how they've turned out! dropped the car off on tuesday night and it was ready to be picked up at 5 last night. Got them done at Skidz in Falkirk, quite pricey at £240, but for such a quick turnaround and excellent finish, it's well worth it! would recommend them to all in the Falkirk area.
