Adam's Bocanegra UPDATE 23/07/13 Damaged Bumper Resolution and 2nd Service

seems all my friends have caught the seat bug after i got my new car!

another pal has now just bought himself a 60 plate platinum grey ibiza cupra, going to pick it up from huddersfield tomorrow.

anyway, updates on my car.....

home from the sea last night and immediately set about changing all of my bulbs over. got a warning light up on the dash, but i know which bulbs are causing it, had a cheapo set of led sidelights lying around and decided to put them in. :censored:
bulbs make such a difference, now just waiting on my boot light bulb to arrive and that'll be me done. must say that all of the fittings and holders for the bulbs are much easier to access compared to my mk4!

led interior lights (shite picture, more will follow tonight):

going to acquire about powdercoating of the alloys and calipers today.
as well as a trip down to stainless creations in falkirk to see about getting a custom exhaust made up.
will report back with my findings!

wind deflectors arrived eventually so fitted them earlier on today. still waiting on my yellow tint film for the front fogs.

purchases will be probably quite small in the near future...treated myself to a 64gb iphone 5 yesterday so i'm not feeling too flush.

swithering on whether or not to paint the calipers orange with my foliatec kit tomorrow, will decide in the morning.

been lookng at the blow off adaptor more and more recently, think i'lll purchase one when i shift some stuff on ebay.

looking forward to the meet next sunday night!

after going out to move my car off the drive last night, i was greeted with a nice little oil level warning.

checked the level to find (to my horror) there was only a dribble in the system! must've had to add about 3 litres :(

i'm in two minds whether or not to phone the dealer, as this is the first low warning light i've had. will continue checking the oil regularly from now on, and if its ridiculously low again i will be on the phone immediately.

on a brighter note, decided i'd give the car a mini detail today to cheer myself up, bit of a stupid idea really...forgot how cold it can get in central scotland in the middle of january. had to take breaks every ten minutes to stop my fingers falling off.

started by rinsing and snow foaming (cherry snow foam smells ace!):

then a 2 bucket wash using dodo juice born to be mild and a wookie fist:

this revealed just how bad my car is with tar spots. ran out of remover so might resort to white spirit.

next, i sprayed the wheels with bilberry wheel cleaner (brilliant stuff, smells AMAZING) whilst i was letting it soak in I dried my car using my extremely complex method (3 different cloths, sort of wafting them over the body...ocd i know)

after i'd dried it i set about scrubbing the wheels with a wheel brush and the remainder of the shampoo. as i was doing this i was treated to some nice hail/snow/sleet/rain, so i've now breaked for lunch, before drying the car AGAIN. suns out though so I'm hoping i can get to work with the DA and get a few coats of wax on it this afternoon. will report back with some finished shots later on....

while rummaging about the garage i found an unopened bottle of tardis...shoved some in a spray bottle and set to work. unbelievable how dirty your car can be even after a thorough wash. here's a few pics of it in action:

finally done after 4 hours work. fingers are like ice and my nose is running like a tap...but its been worth it. :)

had to go over the car twice with the tardis in order to get rid of the tar spots. still a few marks on it but i'll get them next time.

after the tardis, i washed and dried the car once more, before using dodo juice lime prime on every panel to prepare it for polishing.

by this point i was beginning to lose faith, so i only polished a few panels using backlight polish (again another great smelling product)

my pal then turned up just in time for some wax action. gave the car a coat with meguiars ultimate liquid wax to start off, then followed up with dodo juice austintacious mini wax (my friend has this for his cooper s) finally, after much elbow grease, i finished off the layers with a thick coat of colinite.

then set about dressing the tyres with meguiars tyre gel:

the windows i sealed using wolfs chemicals window sealant. at £26 for a tiny bottle this stuff isnt cheap, but well worth it in my opinion.

the car was now finished and i could sit back, sigh and take a few pics:

oh and i polished the exhaust surround with some cheap autosol metal polish, came up very nice.

love having a clean and protected car :) annoys me that dealers will sell you a car without waxing it at all.

struggling to fit the forge spacer, can't get access to one of the torque screws on the old valve. think i'll need a shorter torque driver.

got the heat gun out today and got creative with the engine cover:

theres a bit of glue left on the cover in this picture, but it rubbed off easily enough. thinking about doing another bit of the engine cover, although i would like a nice vibrant orange or something.

comments welcome :)
