The springs can be fitted to all caliper setup's i think!

Have a look and see if your setup can accomodate a spring

I think they were fitted the wrong way (i.e. on wrong side, the spiral should be near the handbrake pivot).

With pliers or can even use hands as the springs are not heavily tensioned.
