Finally managed to start my projector retrofit! The lights are too big for the oven so got a heat gun (about 20 years old!) on the go and managed to get one headlight open after about an hour! Will do some more over the weekend and see how it looks before I seal it up!

Just a quick preview of the lens and shroud in an approximate position...loads more to do but its a start! I've only rested the projector and shroud in place and the only way was to put it on the worktop upside down so the photo is a bit strange with the wall at the bottom!

had a play around with the bonnet trim that lets water in and soaks the soundproofing.

no pics but all I did was tape up all the holes and bought some d shape weather strip to put all the way around the recess and then made my own washers to go on to the plastic clips that push through the bonnet out of some old cycle innertube (lol) . it does fit a lot tighter so fingers crossed it will work or will be better. (I hope). my soundproofing is absoloutly soddened and is currently drying out so I am now driving around without it at the moment. will keep updated. if no water gets through I will see about a new soundproofing.

(touch wood this will work)

Ended up being 150.
It's not really a filler job at all. Just needs to be pushed out from the other side and the smaller dent is going to be taken out by electromagnet reverse hammer.
The cash is in taken the door off, door card off, red-shaping the door, putting it all back together and then polishing the scratch and topping that up a bit.
I thought 150 was alright :s

£150 is more like it, it is usually around £120-30 per panel near me. I'm suprised the dent guy didn't give it a go, they are usually pretty well equipped for anything, but as long as it's getting sorted out then it doesn't matter :)

well i took my fr in for it's first service and they kindly flashed the ecu so now i need to map it again :censored: but i may go for a different company as i've had nothing but problems with previous one as engine warning light kept coming up randomly so if i get a different one it may rule out faulty car/map, has any one ever herd of pendle performance if so are they any good?

@rob that looks very efficient, well aligned, and professionally done. I really like how it looks and I sure hope the output will be as good!

Thanks Tarek...I'm thinking of fabricating a bracket to hold the projector in place so that I don't need to use the reflector as a housing as the reflector is slightly oval and all the shrouds I've seen don't fit, even the Oval ones! I've got some mild steel which I can use and the trusty DVD case for the perfect matching plastic to hide any parts. :)

Rob i never liked the idea of using the reflector housing as it wouldnt be reliable. Looking good tho. Have you thought about a black shroud?

Jay, I agree with you, I'm concerned that the weight of the projector on the 2 plastic clips of the reflector would ultimately make it break from the usual road movement etc. I have produced a cardboard template which should be just fine for transferring to steel and that should work a treat! :D

You have probably see the thread Jon TDi did about his retrofit and he used a piece of carbon sheet to hide parts of the projector from the side. I'm not keen on the carbon finish however the DVD case is a perfect match and can be bent to shape using the heat gun...tried it tonight and it works just fine. :)

As for the black shrouds, that was on my list of ideas however because the main beam is silver I think the shroud should remain silver as it will just seem better visually. If it doesn't I can pull it apart and give it a spray!

I'll try and get the templates cut tomorrow and carry out a temporary fitting to see how it works. The are also a couple of other things to do too but that will have to wait until its finished for you lot to see!

Also decided im going to get an ebay special downpipe too, a few people on here seem to be running them for their stg2! and no complaints, if you dig through threads.

also been offered an S3 cooler with hoses, for 195 Delivered. tempted, rather than a twintercooler for stupid money!
