At Curborough I had a feel of smudge's knob (gear knob) and his was much tighter than mine!

So purchased some roller bearing washers & had the mount machine 1mm either side.

You can work out the bearing washer & notice its been machined. Few of you may notice that the washers either side of the bearing washer are missing this is because I would need to machine off 3mm either side & the thickness if the mount was 6mm so it would have been too much!

I'm at Castle Combe tomorrow, booked a track day with Motorsport Events so the car is all hitches up ready for my early start tomorrow :)

Combe didn't go well :(

First I had trouble getting through sound test, even with my silencer fitted. Ended up having some wire wool have fitted then into the silencer and then removed the wool after the test.

First session was wet but drying up so was no need to try my "wets" and nothing really stayed with me. Second session was much drier and everything was going real good then my exhaust started blowing, badly!!!

On inspection my manifold had cracked between the collectors as they go into one, end of the day!!! Cars all washed, working tomorrow to pay for a new oven lol and then get my manifold & back box off to get it down to Saxon Motorsport to fix the manifold & re-stuff my back box so I can get onto tracks lol.

And on a positive note, my gear shifter feels 10 times better now there's no play... Feels much more direct!

Taken my exhaust off today, thanks to the old man popping up to give me a hand! Defiantly a 2 pair of hands job otherwise I'm sure I would have had the exhaust fall on my face.... Which wouldn't be the first time :)

Anyway here's a complete exhaust removed

First time I have ever had a chance to look at the exhaust and very impressed with the workmanship of it! Like it when they willing to stamp their name on it to!

bigger rear box would help Dave I think.. re noise and combe etc

mine sound tests 95db(A) at last event... repacked the rear silencer. (was 105 at previous race)

guess why I put mine across the back of the car - its very hard to get any decent size of silencer under an ibiza - I had constant problems with it - much less of an issue with turbo's which are inherently much quieter

what about trying one of these at the back? nearly went this route myself - supertrapp tuneable silencers

I was shocked how easy the back box came off!! But can see why you have gone down the route you have!!

Does that supertrap take place if where the back box would be?

yep - there are loads of different designs and they are supposed to be much more resistant to race-type exhaust temps and volumes - and as they dont have packing material, last longer

Took a 5 hour drive to Powerspeed and was impressed with the set up they had there!! Been to a few exhaust companies but these got to be the best I have seen specially when they have some Motorsport background not just some joe blogs that can bend pipes to fit!

Re-packed my centre silencer & back box

Repaired the manifold, going see how this holds up and if it goes again they will re-design it.

Mark met me there so placed a order for some solid rear engine & gearbox mounts to go with the solid front one I had when the throttle bodes were fitted.... Going to get a lovely massage when they fitted lol.

On my way home I popped into Newport to collect some hydraulic car ramps, bought 2 sets so I can raise the whole car but the side skirts won't clear the ramps for the rear wheels to get on.

£350 each I paid. 2 post ramp would be great if it actually fitted in my garage! Wouldn't be much use otherwise

do those ramps have mechanical stops to lock them in the up position.
I would never trust hydraulics alone...

Yeh not having space doesnt help. £700 though. A lot of money for what you get

They have a metal fold over bracket that locks against the piston

Yea but I hate using a jack & axel stands, horrible trying to raise the car up high and having it balance on axel stands as you lift each corner.

Here's a pic with the flap highlighted

But it can only be used when the ramp is at full extension.

Thanks fella! It's more towards track than road now but it is road legal but it is a nightmare to use on the road lol.

Got some solid rear & gearbox mounts on order getting a race spec front lower arm mount (mk2 Golf poly bush) and a rear lower arm mount (Audi TT race spec, power flex).

And I have a VW Motorsport Polo Rally Car rear beam bushes wanting to be fitted
