It's that time of year again where Pedro comes out from under his sheet and out of hibernation.

ROB813C_Mar13.jpg

I was amazed/mildly impressed to find that after checking all fluids and reconnecting the battery he fired straight back into life, before I took it out to get everything up to temperature and blow the cob webs off.

Tonight I went out with a friend to collect a few logs after I noticed a drop in boost; I'm certain last year I was peaking at 24-26 PSI, vs what looks more like 20-21 PSI now. On WOT I can hear and see the boost fluctuating between 20-22 PSI, but seemingly throttled by something.

Bearing in mind it's also a cold night (sub 3 Deg C) the CFs concern me.

All logs were collected starting in 4th, applying WOT from 2,000 - 6,000 RPM:

050413Run2.png

050413Run3-4.png

Fault codes were cleared before these runs, and a subsequent scan showed:

Code:
Control Module Part Number: 6K0 906 032 AA
  Component and/or Version: 1.8L 20VT EU3 01 0002
           Software Coding: 10500
            Work Shop Code: WSC 12849
3 Faults Found:
17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Open Circuit
        P1116 - 35-00 - -
16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor: Implausible Signal
        P0501 - 35-00 - -
16518 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: No Activity
        P0134 - 35-00 - -

Lambda is "expected", I've had problems with this for quite a while...

Notice that requested boost only equates to around 21 PSI which is what I see, though looking back over my latest dyno plots and from memory of last year's track day I'm certain I was peaking at 24-26 PSI.

Anything further I should look at from these initial logs?

lol...........

REMEMBER it can only view and request 2550....... 22.5psi.......... So logging something which can only show these figures....

The turbo was clearly Tired last here.. Smoking..
I would'nt be surprised if its not tired now.. Track days and being run flat out etc...

Welcome to pop along for free check on the dyno, but it was showing signs of being tired (turbo) previously. Need a nice new spec hybrid of Dans making..

Lupo 300bhp off 16psi boost :)

Also.. just relooked at the above logs.. Fuel Injector max IDC is >100% after 5500rpm....... Run out of injectors.

Thanks, I'll give you a shout when I'm back home and free to head over.

The IDCs were noted when it was last mapped.

Is there any link with the likely tired tubby and increased CFs?

If its logging these numbers in 3 Deg ambient temps it concerns me what it'll do on a summers day

I've had a little oil in my cold side piping since fitting GT30, how much would you say is for concern?

Also with regards to the mapping why are the injectors maxed out at 5.5k and then continued all the way to redline?! Surely you would pull boost/ add timing to ensure safety and prevent potential detonation. Can you get a log for timing?

Keen to find out more about this.

so long as afr's are being maintained its an observation I made at the time.
Robbie wanted it max'd out... and aggresive.. which is what he got given.

The turbo is undersized for the 1900cc it is now imho, and also tired. Its had a hard little life and is a few years old now.

CF can pull12's, 6 of which have been consumed already.
WMI check also.... is it actually pumping/atomising?

wideband for the win.

some small oil misting is fairly normal, but when its running out of the throttle body and pipes like I see frequently, this explains the high CF's are its oil breathing is derating any effective knock resistance from the fuel... Not saying thats whats occuring here, but its a check to make to be sure.

I'll have a word with Dale to remove the TIP and see if there's any signs of wear/play in the compressor as well as check my intake pipes for oil.

I wouldn't expect the car to pull any CFs on a ~3 Deg cold night, that's what surprised me. My AEM LED suggests the WMI is working fine.

I'm completely at a crossroads as to what to do with this car now; either invest in a 2868 HTA setup with different management to overcome the stalling and give me more control on monitoring what's going on, stripped with buckets and harnesses....or go for the S2 Exige S

you trust an led?

remove nozzle, press TEST and see what actually Sprays is an actual test

Wideband conversion for the win too :p

I'm doing a full LCR ecu and loom conversion on an Ibiza in the next month or so. Full wideband and EGT with VVT too. Will prob be a pain to do though. We shall see.

If the AEM has been stood then check the filter and nozzle. These gunk up.
