Gave the car a regular wash today, and I also washed the new alloys for the first time since having them fitted last weekend. It's amazing how much brake dust builds up within a week :-o

On a side note, I won a used Cupra steering wheel off ebay this evening, airbag included for £29 delivered, can't wait until it arrives :D

just sprayed the home made heat shield satin black and used the old TIP to make a cold air feed from the fog light as the previous owner put one in and was short behind the fog so cut the tip down and made the fog light hole bigger and it slid perfecrtly over :)

The new Bilstein B4 shocks & KW 40mm lowering springs arrived today, and therefore I finally got the car lowered :D :D

I will upload photos shortly as PhotoBucket is playing up this evening.

As discussed on my last post, here is the finishing result of today's lowering :)

I'm absolutely over the moon with it, I really am. I'm amazed now too that the ride in general is more comfortable now with literally no banging over bumps or noises, as opposed with just the alloys on the standard suspension prior to today. The handling has been totally transformed, and the only thing that I have noticed and as to be expected is that the ride is a little bit bouncy which I noticed on my way home on a 70mph A road, but I suppose it may settle down properly in time. I've been told by my mechanic mate who fitted everything that the front may lower a little bit more when it settles, but either way - I'm chuffed.

Here is a link to my post when I first had the alloys fitted on the standard suspension last weekend for a comparison: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3997723&postcount=2386

Massive thanks to Damian @ DPM Performance for his advice & looking after my order for the KW springs! :)

I've decided that I'm going to start my own RR thread, so keep a look out :D

looks much better, i wish i could lower mine

Thanks mate, try and save up as best as you can - I was on a budget and I got the KW 40mm lowering springs for £148 delivered from DPM Performance and I got Bilstein B4 shocks (the sport ones with 22-045751 & 19-029177 part numbers) for £188 delivered off eBay. So that is around £336 altogether.

You can lower on an even cheaper budget using JOM coilovers which I think can be had for around £170 off DPM too. I was originally going to lower mine on these JOM coilovers all round and purchased the kit but last week my mate managed to talk me out of fitting them to my car (claims that the ride will be more uncomfortable on coilovers, as opposed to upgraded shocks & separate lowering springs which will still retain a lot of comfort) as he desperately wanted them to fit onto his Leon and so he purchased them off me instead.

Therefore, as I wanted to keep the ride as comfortable as possible I decided to splash out a bit more money on brand new shocks & the lowering springs, and so far I'm glad I did.

The JOM's are meant to be the best coilover kit for beginners and for the money they are supposed to be really good, loads of people on here have got them fitted.

WHY would you expect a bouncy ride with Bilsteins & KW 40mm drop springs ?
Did you fit the OE spec Bilsteins or the Sport ones ?

The sport ones, it's not really bouncy but I only noticed it ever so slightly when driving along the 70mph A road. I imagine if someone else drove it with more lowering experience than I have then they properly wouldn't see it as an issue.

Reason i ask is I have the sport ones(think i advised you earlier on specs),but i have the Vogtland 35mm springs & mine is anything but bouncy.I can hardly get the front to push down by putting my weight on it,but ride is fantastic.
My car is going back in to garage on Friday to have new wishbones, droplinks, ball joints & ARB bushes,so full front end has been all changed and should be even better.
Could you do me a favour and measure from the road up to the wheel arches through the centrepoint of the wheel(back & front) and give me the height as yours now sits ?
Cheers, looks good and same colour as mine too..:D

Yes you did advise me mate, after asking Damian last week he said that the KW 40mm springs on the sport Bilstein B4 dampers will be fine to use so I went for them. Funny you should mention about putting weight on all 4 corners as my mechanic mate did this when he finished the job and he even said as well that it feels spot on, really solid and hard to push down, so coming to think of it I may be exaggerating a bit when describing the ride to be slightly bouncy as when on the A road earlier, I had a thread from here pop up in my head about a bouncy ride after fitting springs. I am truly pleased with the ride though.

Yes of course mate, I will do some measurements for you tomorrow :)

Look forward to measurements to gauge against mine.
