The Exact Same thing pictured below I fitted to an LCR... no kinks, no issues.......

Niall look in my RR thread, I too have a Jabba Heatshield and B5 TIP. I cut hoses on mine down and it fits perfect now! I found my pipe was kinking due to heatshield, nothing to do with the actual TIP. It's just trial and error buddy :) Don't give up hope as worth it in the end!

Thanks Kat, appreciate your input. How much did you have to trim yours by?

Problem for me is the angle the TIP sits at means it has to be pulled quite a bit to line up with the hole, see here:

I am actually tempted to slice it in half underneath the ports for N75, DV etc. and stick a short length of 80mm alloy tube in there to extend it upwards a bit (sorry Bill!)

Looking at them pics you need to trim some off it,this will decrease the angle alot more and it should go through the hole in the heatshield....did you buy the extra little bit of silicone and ally piping to extend the filter further into your arch?

You decided if your keeping it or not? Mine did the same with facing down and forcing the filter to the bay floor but I never trimmed mine at all.

Yeah the grub screw (as in singular, the newer TIPs only have one nowadays which possibly isn't helping) was in and I did it up tight with a bit of threadlock but the adaptor still rotated around the turbo inlet.

Didn't find it too bad to get the bottom jubilee on but it was an utter bitch to get the main hose onto the adaptor. I used a smear of engine oil to lube up the N75 and the breather hoses which helped a little bit. The MAF was an total mission to fit too.

I'd better get an awesome result with this thing on the rollers or with VAGCOM. The car made 219.83g/s on VAGCOM with the old THS TIP, which looks like 274.79bhp so I hope the new TIP is worth the hassle :)

Hi, I have had the same problem. My billet conected fine but the hose kept working its way down the billet the more i tightened it (maybe there was some fairy on it) it currently stands all conected apart from the the hose is not flush with the billet at the bottom. there is about a 6 -8mm gap and the bottom bend is slightly kinked. how mucgh did you cut off at the maf end? is the answer a new heat sheild?

Cool, I'll PM you in a minute mate, cheers. I did trim about 1.5 inch off it, yeah. Already have some silicone and alloy pipe from before so that's not a problem. How much did you trim off?

I know it points down slightly. i think my heatshild's hole is the wrong place.

Depends on how much. If it's just a little bit then it'll be OK to pull it up to align with the hole in the shield without kinking the bottom bend or pulling it off the billet adaptor. If (like me) you have to pull it quite a bit then the bend gets kinked.

Refitted TIP again tonight. Couldn't use that tape stuff as it turns out the back is not that sticky and wouldn't hold on to the adaptor so I just refitted it as it was before. I put my hand down to check what it was like before I removed it all and managed to pull the hose away from the adaptor easily. So much for being a tight fit and staying put once the jubilee is tightened as Bill says.

So got the TIP back on and jubilee tightened, seemed OK but by the time I had the DV, N75 etc. in and the filter and heatshield in place the TIP had come away from the stop on the adapter about 5mm and the bottom bend is quite badly kinked.

So tomorrow evening's job - remove the B5 TIP completely and put the THS one back on for now. Going to Edinburgh on Saturday and can't risk the TIP coming off on the motorway. The B5 TIP is getting sold and I'll go for the SFS one on AmD's special offer. I know there's a 3 or 4 week lead time but I'd rather have the THS one on for now and know it's not going anywhere than risk the B5 one, I have no confidence in it now.

In other news, I tried the 008 with the yellow spring and two shims tonight. Still seemed to dump fine but the flutter on boost was still there. Also got fault code 17608 so I don't know if that's cos the combination of yellow spring and two shims is too tight or what.

In any case, I can ditch the shims and not have to worry about fluttering noise once I get the THS TIP back on and hopefully I'll be lucky like t0m and the SFS TIP won't make any strange noises. I'm sure the B5 TIP works well for lots of people but because of my PITA coolant pipes and the Jabba heatshield it doesn't work for me.

Just to alert you, I've ordered a blue spring for mine, so will update you.

Thanks Dan, see how that goes. I noticed no real difference with two shims and the yellow spring so keen to hear what happens.

Oh, another update - managed to pop a boost hose off on the Edinburgh bypass on Saturday, at WOT in 4th. Made bloody lound BANG and no power, then black smoke out the back. Thought I'd blown the turbo! It was the connection at the first SMIC behind the offside headlight, had no sockets or spanners in the car so ended up having to tighten it a little bit with pliers until I got to my mates house. Scary ****, had a very gentle drive home from Edinburgh yesterday. Will be off to Halfords tonight to get a basic toolkit to keep in the car...

Yeah, I was surprised it went bang, thought if it ever happened it might be a loud "pop" instead! Oh well, tightened up the t-clamps a bit more last night, hard to know how much to tighten them as on the stock SMICs the pipe it clamps to is plastic, as is the MAP sensor tube. I find t-clamps a bit hard to judge too as they don't seem to get harder to turn as they get tight.

Hopefully will get this TIP sorted finally this weekend, still a bit worried about the coolant pipes. Bill, I know you said just to brutalise them into getting out the way but I've yanked on them with almost my whole weight and mine haven't budged. Wonder if there's a bracket or something I can undo temporarily.

Ah feck, never thought of that :\ Oh well, direct from Forge wasn't that dear but I'll need to have a look on there as there's other wee odds and ends I'd quite like but don't fancy paying Forge prices for...
