Hey folks,

As above really!! Anybody know why the radio stays on in the car after the engine is switched off and the keys removed?! It only does it occasionally, so am I doing something wrong?!
I have tried leaving it once for about 5 minutes to see if it switched itself off, however it didn't so manually switched radio off (Ball-ache!!!)

Thanks for the help in advance
KEL ;)

Sounds like you may have a short in the power feed. There are normally 2 power connections, one on the ignition circuit which turns it on and off and the other is a constant live feed to power the clock and memory. If they are shorting across each other, that could be the reason why it won't switch off with the ignition.

Always have to manually switch mine off. Stays on for about an hour and then switches itself off if you leave it.

If you always have to do it then chances are it's set like that (or has been wired wrong into permanent live rather than ignition live). f it's been set like that then it can be changed in VAGCOM (or maybe even the radio settings IIRC).

Will have a poke about tomorrow and see what the score is. :)

Sometimes happens to me... Usually goes along the lines of

Stop engine (leaving key in), Wait for 5mins or so, Remove the key (radio remains on), Open drivers door and it goes off.

Mine does just the opposite, from time to time when I switch the ignition off and remove the key, and everything goes to sleep as it should, just as I'm about to lock the doors the bloody radio switches itself back on...can't for the life of me figure out why.

Mine used to do this with the old stereo in. I found that if I took the key out and opened the door within a few seconds then it went off ok. If I was a bit slow in that process then the stereo would stay on!

Since swapping my original for the RNS315 I have not had the problem since.

LeonES, this is exactly what mine does!! It's quite strange as it only does it every now and then!! Think a trip to the stealers could be in order so they can have a look at it, from what people are saying!!

Appears that mine does indeed turn off when you take the key out of the ignition. I'd just got into the habit of switching it off manually after shutting the engine down! Doh!

Gents - go into "prog" scroll along the bottom to "ign" & set to on or off for radio to come on or off with the ignition key :)
If you set it to on - the radio will come on when you switch the ignition on - UNLESS you manually switched it off beforehand. And vice-versa it will switch off when you remove the key.
If you have ign off the radio needs to be manually switched on & off.
Once the key is out of the ignition, or it's been switched on manually without the key in the ignition, I've noticed that mine does switch off after 20mins or so.

Thanks, but already tried and failed with that one, still does it :(

That’s an interesting issue! It could be due to a retained accessory power (RAP) feature or a faulty ignition switch. Checking the wiring and relays might help diagnose the problem. I had a similar experience while managing files and found some useful insights here: https://www.teraboxsmodapk.com/.
