Guys,

Sorry i've tried searching for this but havent found anything.

Currently i have a 2 button remote key and a spare key (which sets off the alarm)

I have bought a 3 button key but it says it doesnt come with a remote or transponder.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-flip...cessories_Safety_Security&hash=item3f0f18acbd

I know i need to take out my transponder from my spare key and get the key cut from a keycutting shop and program it.
What else would i need to purchase to make this work?

Thanks for your help guys.

You need to purchase a proper key, what you have purchased there is a key case with blade and logo, with no circuit board inside it.

Hi guys, just picked up my Cupra on Saturday and want to get rid of the boring key that reminds me of my 1.2..

This seems the only new one on eBay that comes with everything..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SEAT-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item58909c63b0

Will this work with my 07 registered car? It's a 56 plate though.

Guessing if I buy that I need nothing other than getting it cutting and activated on my car etc.

I think that will work. And yes, you'd need to get the blade cut, then code the transponder and match the remote to the car.

Why don't you get a 3 button one instead? You'll be able to unlock the boot with your 3 button'er :)

Alot of people had them not work but seems a few people got them, I might swap mine for one. If it works I will sell the one I been using I think; this is not me trying to sell it before i get frigging banned or warned lol!
I am not even using it since the key snapped in the ignition so I need to source a new key blade yet again!

I dread that happening to mine, particularly as you can tell the eBay blade I bought for mine isn't as good quality as a genuine blade. Was it a nightmare to remove your broken key once it snapped?

My 3 button key (part number ends in DA) works absolutely fine.

Partly why I have not replaced it I want to find a place that makes them at good quality but seems everyone got them from eBay! I had it about 2/3 years before this happened most people sell the car on by then but I do know it happened to Jimski on here too.

Luckily I was at work when it happened and my work college pulled it out with a small pair of pliers if it had happened anywhere else or snapped a tiny bit more off I would have been stranded! I then borrowed a work car and went home to get my spare key again.

Help

Hi,
I have an 05 ibiza and the remote key is not working.
The key is not a flip key but one of the 2 button rounded ones.
In my desperation to try and get it working I was clutching at straws so attempted to remove the transponder from the spare non remote key.
Unfortunately it was well stuck in and I have broken it.
What are my options for fixing the remote and hopefully fixing the spare key?
Any help will be much appreciated.

As for fixing the remote, you could try matching it with the car using VCDS, if this is unsuccessful then try changing the battery (then match it). If it still doesn't work, the remote function of the key is probably knackered. Or the key pad, but that's unlikely.

As for fixing the spare key, if the actual key is still intact and it's just the glass transponder tube you have broken, then you can purchase a new one (blank ID48 transponder) off eBay for circa £7. Then you'll have to get the transponder recoded by an auto locksmith and that should be it.

It's funny about people getting the 3 button remotes to unlock the boot as the boot on my car is unlocked anyway by the 2 button remote.

The boot does lock itself I've noticed if your in the car with the ignition on/engine running and you have to press the unlock button in the car to unlock it again.

Also if anyone is interested I have vag-tacho and can code in transponder keys if you're getting a new transponder like I did.

That's not the reason for the 3 button remote. With the 3 button remote you can unlock the boot only while keeping the rest of the car locked. When you then shut the boot, the boot automatically re-locks and the rest of the car remains locked.

It is handy sometimes.

Ah right.

I find the 2 button works for me but can see the appeal of just being able to unlock the boot although nearly everytime I want to get into the boot is wither when I'm getting in/out the car so it is unlocked anyway. I just got the cheapest I could find which was the 2 button!

BTW. If someone wants to recode their key but you don't have your SKC code like I didn't then I can also retrieve that for you.
