Thanks matey, I'm just waiting on a reply to make sure that he can do it ok then I'll be going for it. When he supplied you the cut blade did you have to knock the roll pin out of your current flip key (with a blank blade in it) and refit it, or did the key have to be dismantled?

I personally dismantled the key and changed the transponder chip at the same time. I knocked the roll pin out, swapped the blades over, then retensioned the spring (turn it clockwise a couple of times to make sure it 'flips' properly. Easy enough to dismantle, the hardest bit is removing the badge on the back (to get to the screw to undo the case) without damaging it!

I found a complete key on eBay with transponder and buttons on it.. only problem is that it has a blank blade in it, so i was going to knock the roll pin out, just I couldn't seem to find anything small enough in my tool box to get it out with (JCB Technician ;) ) if its not too difficult to dismantle I'll have a go at that. Might be able to find something kicking about in the workshop thats small enough to get in there and get that pin out.

the new blank hey has a fresh transponder in it. I have a working copy of VAG-COM and have accidentally deleted my keys from the car in the past and had to reprogram them so thats no worries.. it says its a 'virgin transponder' so should be able to be programmed straight in :D

The roll pin was a bit of a pain in the ass to get out, but I managed to use one of my Britool TX-5 torx bits as it was just big enough to get down the hole but not too small that it didn't push the roll pin out.
Programming the key in was so simple its unbelievable. So there we are, a nice little mod that no one apart from Ibiza owners will ever know about ;)

Congrats on joining the Flip Key Club! :D

I got an FR key fob badge on ebay for my flip key and it's very good! I do think it's better than the boggo Seat one.
Anyway I've had a looksy for you and found these: This One and This Second One (Gel Domed)

I have a funny feeling the gel one might not be so great but for £1.80 might be worth a go.

Nice one matey and great result :)

I bought a metal FR one from a guy on here, a few of us did, despite me covering it in clean nail varnish it still wore away and I just had to take it off, had it about 2 years to proper VW/Seat ones last longer than that. I don't really wanna Seat one thou so will pay for the slightly more expensive one in your link cheers for that.

Also highly recommend using super glue these self adhesive ones are not up to much!

I took my key to a guy today to code the key to the immobilser but he couldn't access the clocks not use to doing it on ibiza's. Could anyone help with this, or anyone close to blackburn (north west) that could do it for us and how much.

flip key

hi guys getting really confused with this whole key flip lark! when i spoke to dealership they quoted me £140 to get a flip key and coded, but if i buy this one....
ebay item num:- (as newbie no url) 180742507462

do i just have to take the chip out of my spare non remote key, place it in new flip key and get key cut normally? then sync it with igniton to get the remote working???? saving me like £90????

really confused!!!

when i got my mk4 ibiza fr it came with only the non-remote spare. for a normal non flip key remote it was £63 fitted. im wondering if its worth finding out how much a standard non remote key would be,as even £63+ the price of one of ebay is still less than £140 (as quoted above for a flip key)

so if i was to buy the key i mentioned earlier that comes with a totally clean chip, would i be able to leave it in there and just program it using the car or would i still have to take chip out spare key????
