Update time, we swapped out the engine temp sensor which seems to have cured the temp issues! Does anyone know at what point the electric fans cut in at?

I noticed too a slight squeak coming from the engine, it's intermittent but comin from the pulley area...

Am thinking it could be waterpump ish and even though the cambelt was done 30k miles ago I'm thinking it's worth getting them both replaced for piece of mind!

All thoughts welcome

Hi Sam,

I'm sure that now you've had the cambelt replaced, you won't have noticed the squeak? Just to give you reassurance, this was a symptom with my car a couple of years ago; it was a bearing within one of the pulley tensioners, which you'll have had replaced now. Glad the temp issues have been resolved. My fans take an age to kick in too; not sure what the exact temp would be... ++100 deg...

Really like LCRs in red. Wanted one in red originally but bought an ovni one as it was cheaper... no regrets though! Hope you continue to enjoy the car and the forum!

James :)

Thanks very much! Having looked through your project at considerable length I must say yours is one of the few ovni yellow lcr's I love the look of!

Thanks for the reassurance on the squeak, concerned me at the time but was right to do so as the seat dealer said the water pump impeller blades were worn so probably don't have full flow! Glad everything is working spot on now though!!

Next on the list is a service and then I have some thinking to do about where to start with the fun stuff!

Not a huge amount has happened to the car lately, am still waiting on the logbook to come through 3 and a half weeks later... aweseome DVLA [:@] as I have my private plate to go on

I have a holiday coming up and have said to myself when i get back progress will me made..

Im going to order a Kestrel Das-6 machine polisher with Megs ULtimate compound and Chemical Guys wax to see just how much I can improve on an already good finish!

I also want to order a Jetex filter and adapter to push it further to the wing, to atleast make it sound like a turbo car... I was thinking about buying an upgraded turbo intake pipe but was questioning the gain Id get if the car isnt mapped??

Ill follow with some updated pics of a recent clean up in a bit :)

Definatly would be worthwhile! When were all about a few pics with a decent backdrop would be cool!!

On a side note I have a very intermittent clicking relay from the centre dash area... Any ideas anyone? It doesn't bother me too much but if it's a simple fix...!

Nice car, love the SX too :) Congrats on picking the best colour LCR too ;)

Does it sound like the same click that the indicators make? Could be the relay behind the hazard lights button, or the contacts in the base of the indicator stalk. Get a can of compressed air from PC world (great for getting dust out of awkward little places), attach the "straw" and give it a blast all around the base of the indicator stalk, get right in about it. If that fails then it's likely to be the relay behind the hazards button.

Yes it sounds exactly like that! I'll have to have an investigate when I get a chance, if it bothers me that much! Thanks for the comments! I do miss the Sx a fair bit for the time when everything is working and you can really drive it, however the lcr is Sooooo much nicer 99.9% of the time!!

I have a soft spot for 90's and early 2000's JDM stuff, wanted a Supra TT for ages. Was considering changing my LCR for a Silvia S15 Spec-R for a bit but they're like hen's teeth - might still do it yet :)

Bit of an update, got back off holiday and had a bit of spare cash so thought I'd treat myself to something I'd always wanted to try! It's a kestrel das6 pro machine polisher with all pads polishes waxes etc needed! I've only been messing so far but I'm hugely impressed with the improvement in a already good finish considering I've only had a chance to do the bonnet!! Pics to follow

I also am struggling to decide whether to get the coil overs and spacers sorted or whether to sort the intake with a 007 Jetex filter and heatsheild.... thoughts welcome :)

Nice purchase. Guess you need to decide on what's more important for you mate. I started with engine mods and cosmetics but then quickly moved onto the handling and stance and then back to performance

Well last night with the help of tobrien1 and daz_s13 we set about fitting my new coilovers. First we set about removing the front which is a bit of a PITA. Anyway pics:

All removed

All fitted all round, rears were predictably a lot easier than the front!

I'll leave you with a little teaser pic before I get some better ones today! To say I'm chuffed is an understatement, the car rides very well and seems only a bit stiffer than standard!
