the good..........

****ing pulls like a train.....:D - CHECK
interior i think is quite good on the cr models.
very comfoftable. - CHECK
kids love it WIFE MOANS LOL. - DOUBLE CHECK
i always gets comments and looks [NEVER HAD THAT WITH ANY OTHER CAR IVE OWNED]. - CHECK
lights are nice and bright - Factory Xenons ? - I dont have them but CHECK since i replaced the OE bulbs.
very easy steering control - CHECK and i didnt like the assisted steering in a previous car that loaded up at speed... the Leon is very subtle.
brakes are sharp as **** - CHECK... nearly killed the salesman during a test drive by decapitating him !
lovely roar when u floor it - CHECK... although i'm not sure if the TDi does sound good for a diesel or whether it has the fake interior engine noise speaker thing as well as the Cupra and Cupra R...?

the concerns...

when going round a rounabout or turning on a bendy road it feels as if the car really oversteers or dosent want to hold the road say 30mph.? - Will be the new tyres although i never rated the Bridgestones mine came on and the P6000 kwikfit slapped on at 12K miles have been even worse for the last 10K !

it ****ing drinks like a fish £20 when i first picked it up mainly motaway driving doing aound 60-70mph booting it now and again think i got something like 130 miles out of it and im in the red already...[:@] - Gets lots better... my overall average is now 50mpg over 25K miles and mixed driving.

the stealer says let it do a 1000 miles and the car will feel better, run better and get more miles to the gallon? - CHECK

currently its doing around 45ish miles to the gallon.

i think thats it.........:D

The ride height is high the 18" wheels actually make it look lower than it is. the FR is lowered by 10mm already. Sportlines seem popular on here to lower the FR. Ride is quite firm and lacks a little compliance trade off though is decent handling in the twisties.

I found the steering a bit too light at first and was unsure like you. But once you get use to it is pretty good and feels neither too light or too heavy.

+1 for the steering.............

yer the back seems higher than the front as i can see more wheel arch at the rear...unless that needs running in aswell..........

but im happy for the moment anyways xmas is coming too soonnnnnn.

A common design feature that, with the front end being a little lower than the rear.
It's because the engine and wheels being powered are at the front, so helps shift a little COG forward, towards the front end/wheels (for better traction)...

Take the Mk4 Ibiza for example, the rear arch gap is even bigger!
You lower the car (Ibiza) on Springs and the rear looks like its still at the original height :) ... almost.

Mine has the crappy 17" wheels and it looks like a bus. Get some sport lines on there ;)
I will as soon as I can afford it

If you find the steering too light, find someone with VAGCOM and the 'weighting' can be adjusted to remove some of the superlight weight feel if you want.

My FR CR is 18 months old, just had the 20k service (at 17k) and runs and goes like good 'un, especially with the remap.

My FR is not so standard any more, Sportlines were one of the best things I did (plus 15mm rear spacers), plus side skirts, plus spoiler...... I'll stop now lol !

If you are in the Essex-ish area, you are welcome to come out in my 'bedded-in' FR !

I want to tag along on this thread as I today also experienced the (severe) lack of grip going 30mph around a roundabout in the wet.

My Mazda 5 and old 2010 Ford ka grand prix don't have this problem.

The FR seems to want to go straight on when I want to go right!!
No good! Any thoughts? Tyres? Suspension?

Any insight would be grand. It's an old puppy. 57 reg tfsi 2l with 65k miles

Almost cetainly tyres.

What tyres have you got on at the moment? What's the tread like and was there any heat in them?

I've got some crap Gerutti stuff on the front wheels. Rears were replaced at dealer's when I bought it.
Reckon some p zero would do the trick?
Only got about 2mm of tread left on the fronts as well...

Hmm...well it's definitely because I have new tyres or a new car :) hehe.

Tis well old.

To stick to the thread...
LOVE the ride and power.
DSG is a bit clunky on the get-go but once the car is moving it's heaven

Drive sensibly and you will see 550miles from a tank...put your foot down and that will decrease to around 400miles!

You can expect 45-50mpg if driven steady....boot it and this will fall to around 30mpg!

Its swings and roundabouts mate.... but you did buy a 170bhp car! ;)

I got a slightly "budget" set of tyres on the back of mine recently (to what I would normally buy), while I was getting a new set of wheels fitted. On one occasion since then, going around a corner in a country road, I felt the rear end slide a little - this was at normal driving speeds for the road, however road was wet - certainly can shake you up a little!

Pants!
Not only have I paid over the odds for this car, I now have to spend another 200 or so on new tyres.

A few questions:

Does it make sense to replace just the front tyres, as the rears are "ok"?

How big is the impact of different tyre brands on the same car with different treads?

What are the best overall tyres to put on for year-round? Been looking at Kumho Ecta ku31. Any good? Reviews seem good.
