To be honest, that's not a bad offer.

You're not financially impacted by the current circumstance, and they've made immediate efforts to 'fix' the car and handed over a loaner while they do it.

it costs them nothing to service my car, ive had to be without a car im paying for, and also paying insurance for, for 5 weeks. i just think a free service isnt enough :/

Hello mate, sorry to hear about the problems you are having. It can't be nice shelling out all that money and then having issues after just two days of ownership.

I got this from the which website, they also have letter templates which you can use to formally write to seat.

If you buy a product that turns out to be faulty, you can choose to 'reject' it: give it back and get your money back. However, the law gives you only a 'reasonable' time to do this, what is reasonable depends on the product and how obvious the fault is. However, even with something like a car, you usually have no more than three to four weeks from when you receive it to reject it.

take advice from an old chap here - well long in the tooth with the VW and Audi range of cars.

Get the recorded delivery letters sent off today to reject that car !

I have owned a very long string of new cars from 1979 onwards all VW or Audi - and now the Wife has a Seat.

Seat are selling the cars knowing a % will turn out like yours has.

I totally agree, SEAT are stalling you. Once your over the 28 days you have to comply. Ask for another one or money back, there are plenty of others out there. 2 days is unacceptable

isnt that illegal knowing that some of the cars they sell will let people down and be unreliable? :s if they are doing that, its not a very good thing to do isit seeing as tho seat are now a very good company, tryed to ring seat this morning and asked them to ring me back 6 hours later and nothing :) lol

tbh, i'd just reject it, get a new one in and let them repair this one and flog it to someone else
(obv put the reg num up here so no one in the know unwittingly buys it)

Hmmm - an easy fix !!!

So easy that they are just going to keep fitting new parts until something works.

What a complete crock of sh*te

Go and have a chat with trading standards - you bought a car that has spent more time on a stealers ramp than you have driven it.

I would be going above the service monkeys and speaking to the owner of the stealers.

If he doesn't want to communicate and do something - then I would use trading standards to add a little weight to your complete dissatisfaction.

thats it yeh lol they keep telling me its an easy fix and its under warranty so i dont need to worry about anything, so ive told them im worried about reliability of the repair, and they said i wouldnt even be able tell its been repaired, and itll be just as reliable as a brand new gear box lol im just living with it now arnt i, maybe when i do get it back in a few weeks, itll be brilliant and reliable, at least ive got the 3 years warranty if something does go wrong again

its the same with all brands all cars have there problems no one knows which car is going to be a problem car untill it keeps returning, you can have the most reliable brand in the world and there would still be returns as things can and do go wrong.

Invest the cost of an hour with a good solicitor and get him to write the letter to Seat rejecting the car. You'll spend maybe £150-£250 with the solicitor but Seat are likely to fold really quickly and offer you a replacement car without to much fuss.

If you don't want to spend money on a solicitor get an appointment with your local trading standards office who will explain to you exactly what your rights are and guide you through the process of making a formal complaint and request for rejecting the car.

If you don't reject the car now, you will end up getting it back and worrying about it's reliability and then trading it in for something else at a massive loss.

Reject it.................................................you know it makes sense to get the pain over with and get another car on the drive.
