Fookin hell, I wouldn't be one bit impressed with that ... as said, I believe you might have a 14 day cooling off period. Just tell them to keep the car and get your money back. 140 miles on the clock and dsg has packed in ... that is a disgrace!

stupid isnt it, ill be finding out today what seat plan on doing with my car and how long its going too take. the 14 day cooling off period i could cancel my agreement and give them the car back but i really like this car and hope once i get it back i have no more problems like this 1, its just a big kick in the balls only having it 2 days and its gone already :/ but what can you do aye lol ill let every1 know what the proper diagnosis is and what there going to do about it later when they ring me, but i no for sure ill be without my car for at least a week easy :(

Keep us posted mate, tbh a gearbox is at least a relatively easy fix. I would be worried if it was like turbo, injectors, pump etc.

I hope it all works out for you fella, mine took some time to fix sadly, mainly becuase SEAT could not make a decision. Yours should hopefully be straight forward.

I don't think you have a cooling off period, that is normally applied to distance selling (internet) or when a salesperson comes to your house (double glazing, etc)

I think you need to go down the legal route to reject the car if you want a replacement.

The AA reckon you have 7 days according to this LINK as they are governed by the distance selling legislation.

Your looking at about a week, dsg aint hard to take out and put back in with correct tools etc. Can I just offer my condolences regarding your car. Ive had issues but not from days old so I cant even imagine how much worse its going to be

I would hate a dealer to do major work like that. It takes the newness out of a brand new car. Its just not the same precision job that the assembly robots etc would have done. No disrespect to techs out there its just my personal opinion, and past experience!

You cant get the box fully apart, it is a complete muthafkr of a job, dealership will have to order specialist tools to do this and they are normally on back order for ages. My gearbox sat on a bench for 9 weeks. This is what mine tried to do and split the gear box and rebuild, they actually gave up in the end and it took calls to the regional manager of my dealership and to the area sales manager of SEAT UK to resolve it plus a solicitors letter. You need to get them to contact SEAT and get the whole box changed hound them mercilessly, dont go down this route of the rebuild. I was without my Boc for 4 months push for the box or reject the car.

I wish I had rejected mine and gone for the replacement. This is why I am getting rid of mine in the New year. It does not feel or sound the same since the re build and new box. Bloody thing creaks underload when you now reverse and awful shake again (Geometry and wheel alignment has been done twice since the car was in) Going in again to a Geo specialist next weekend for full car alignment again. Very unhappy hence the chop in for either the Abarth Punto or the Scirocco.

ive been told its the brain of the dsg thats failed because it was selecting 1/3/5 and not selecting the others there isnt a problem with 1/3/5 it just wouldnt go in reverse or the others, no crunching or hesitation or anything, so im hoping its a steady fix without the hassle if my car comes back sounding and feeling different i will not be happy to say the least

That brain is apparently £1,500 quid and bolts on the bell housing. Saw mine when it was in the workshop. They can split it from the box quite easily
