wheres the FAQ thread for this infomation on what i need to do?

from these posts

you can try it with any mk2 style remote by the way to test it just make sure if you borrow a mates that he codes it back to his car after

4 - if all the above tried to no avail a friend with a same style remote is handy as they can be programmed to your car to test it and vice versa - just remember to recode it back to his/her's after

i believe that you can remove and dissasemble your original key to seperate central locking remote and key part-> so you can use someone else's remote(not the whole key). it's done in 10 seconds or less

yes just the remote secion pulls out

I gather it's just a case of finding a similar key (which you know works) popping them both into 2 parts (blade and remote) swap the blade from your non working key onto the remote bit of the working key.
Do the turn on, turn off, press 3 times, flash 5 times routine and it recodes the remote to work with your car and should lock/unlock and work correctly.

If that happens your key is fecked and you need a new one.
If that doesn't happen then your receiver is fecked and you need to start searching scrap yards for breaking ibizas with working central locking

ive got 2 key fobs, one that opens the doors and the other starts the car.... and my central locking does work... the fobs wont unlock or lock the car, thats where i have to use the key in the door to unlock and lock them...

ok then let me rephrase

...start searching scrap yards for cards with working remote central locking
I'm in exactly the same boat and am just trying to help!

I have a standard non blippy key which does what it say on the tin.
put in door, turn, activate central locking, unlock both doors and the boot, put in ignition, start upm drive away.

My remote blippy key does all of the above too. exactly as it should
However you stand next to a locked car and push the iunlock button the light flashes but nothing happens. Stand next to an open car an push the lock button an equal amount of nothing happens.

Either the sender in the key is dead - which is where testing it with the remote part of a different key comes in.
Or the receiver in the car is dead - which is where finding a replacement from a scapper comes in

if it dont work when i try it again tomorrow, is this what im looking for on ebay? : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-ALHAMBRA...ps=63&clkid=8411799086253105817#ht_521wt_1139

Get your mitts off. I had my eye on that one :)

Yes though in theory the remote section of that would swap straight onto your key.

However as you are buying just the key you have no idea if the trasmitter inside that one works or not.
It could turn up and still not work but you still wouldn't know if you'd finally confirmed the receiver in the car is broken; or if you'd just bought another duff key :s
